Default Ideal aluminum torch welds

Does anyone have any pictures (welded side and back side) of what an ideal aluminum torch weld should look like for metal finishing. It would be nice to have something to compare to and shoot for. Mark

Hammerworks thanks again. I now have about 5 feet or less including this 3 foot of weld on my roof panels and the practice did on scrap under my belt . Im sure I will improve by the time this project is done. There is lots of welding to be done. The only way to have less welds is to make bigger panels and I am new to this too. Mark

Hi Mark,

Your welding looks fine to me. I can't give you much advice since I haven't welded aluminum myself... yet

When some of the other guys said "page 5" they meant Randy's reply in post #50 on page 5 of this (your build) thread

And here is what Randy said

Well Larry... page 5 of this thread was the first place I looked, so I think the explanation was OK

Default Pictures of the roof coming along

Side view . Two front half welded and the rear halfs welded . Still have to trim the front to the back and weld them. I think it is coming along good.

Shot from the rear and up kind of high. It has quite alot of shape to it but does not look like it.

From the front . My son is pushing down on the one corner and you can see the other side has razed up off the buck. I will have to work the weld area some more to get it to relax more.

I have to go now and help a buddy move a car . When I get back i will take some pics of my weld finishing job to get some input on how to get a better job done. Mark

Your roof panel looks fine to me Mark!

Remember the "two finger rule!" If a panel can be held in place by just pushing with two fingers, the fit/shape is good enough to weld it in!

Yeah buddy! I know the roof panels have a lot of shape in them. They look real good to me.
