It's only an hour or so from your house and they are open for visitors Saturday and Sunday.

Ben,

I'm sure she'll be happy there ... but don't you think she will miss me? ;-) hint, hint

Santos,

You DID make something that can be used! I thought that the score was 2 -1 in YOUR favour

I have a question about the profile gage that Jakko is holding, does anyone know where to get them now? I know someone on metalmeet made them a while back and then they were copied by harbor freight, but the link I had got lost in the crash and HF doesn't sell them anymore...do I just have to make my own?

Cheers,

Daniel,

The profile gage was "invented" by Ben ad Emile. That's where I got it (Viking Meet 2007 I think)

Peder can make them and Bengt-Olof has made a CAD file.

We need to get Ben's approval before we even THINK of producing them!!! And I haven't even asked him yet

I seem to remember that Ben an Emile told me that they milled the plastic manually and they were a bear to make. Peder has 5-axis CNC

Throwing up an idea here:

Maybe Peder can produce 2 wheels, one male and one female with the pattern as a continous punch. Then a machine similar to a bead roller have to be made, just with much larger wheels. Producing the plastic strip would then be just a matter of cranking a suitable sheet of plastic through the machine.

Another set of wheels could make the link parts, although this may pose a problem since they are not continous strips and a pushout device for the female die would be needed. For a strip part a "finger" would do that job.

If the wheels were machined and sent to Ben, I'm sure he would make the machine in no time.

Default A real Viking....

Hi all, today I had some time over to end up my project from 2011 Viking meet ;-)

Here you can see a real Viking in the vikinghelmet ;-)

The helmet is made of aluminium 1,5 mm thick and totaly handformed.
The lower edge is a wire edge.
All pieces are riveted together and the horns is made of 2 pieces each and then welded together...
Thanks Ben for one horn and Einar for an half , the last piece I made and then matched up to Einars.....and they fit great together

All the best !
