Default what would you suggest?

I'm looking at buying "something" to cut metal.
I do light fab work, angle iron, tube , exhaust pipe etc.
I'd like to do compound miter cuts.
I was looking at cold cut saws but they are limited in size of material unless you spend in the range of $2000(do any of them do compound cuts?). I'd like one tool to take care of most of my cuts.
Maybe a horizontal band saw? I have limited space in my shop aswell.
What would you experienced metal workers reccomend?
Thanks in advance

Check out Craigslist-Toronto, or better yet try Detroit MI. if you are thinking about a horizontal saw. Im sure you could find a nice Wells, Carolina, or Kalamazoo for cheap cheap cheap.

Lots of used equipment out there, if you know what to look for in wear, one that runs coolant will save bunches of money on blades. I have an old Keller no 3 (i think?) power hacksaw. When you check and double check it cuts real square and nice mitered ends. It's slow but blades last a long time, has adjustment for solid or tube stock. There are many modifications people have made to make the cheap imports work, you could go that route. Good luck! tt

Default bandsaw

I happen to have a bandsaw up for sale if you are interested. It is a GROB, and works excellent.

Take a look, it's on ebay currently. Located in Quincy IL.

If you are interested, we can make a good deal on it.

If you go with a horiz bandsaw, KING has decent bang for the buck....I have the 5"x6" dual swivel, (and I think KenB has the older single swivel version)

but kelly is right, these days there should be a good number of commercial quality units available, craigslist, kijiji, and used eqpt dealers in Ont/Mich should have what you want......
