Default Project cars at metalmeet

Hello all, Getting closer to the big show. I would like to talk about project cars at MM06. Although we have a lot of space we need to plan how things will be laid out. If you plan to bring a car or truck body please call me at cell 240-674-2101 or home at 301-698-5236. I need to know what your bringing and what you want done on it. Example if you want to chop the roof we have to have enough room for the car and the roof off the car. I would also like to know if you want help with the project or if anyone can jump in to help you.

Im thinking if someone don't mind a newbey tagging along and giving some pointers and well as getting some pointers from the masters this may help get the new people involved. We had way to many last year standing around because they did not know anyone and were afraid to jump in on a project when they knew nothing about it. So they stood back and blended in. I would like to change this but if you dont want this type help we will keep your project separated from the rest. Does not meen you have an attitude problem as your project may only require a masters help. I just want to be able to tell the new people that anything on this side of the building , there looking for help in any way.

If you dont contact me before the last week before MM06 about the car you want to bring then we will find space for it but it may be in one of the barns or outside. First come , first serve.

I plan to bring my 51 ford coe ive been working on but if we have enough projects then i will leave it home. Gator

Thumbs up Help

Gator, I can help out with any top chop projects in planning how to do the job, and pointers along the way.

Thanks Jerry. But if you want to help you will have to tone down the shirts or everyone will think Boyd Coddington is in the house.

Gator, I think Chaz has a chevy he wants to chop the top on if possible. He is looking for guidance, as a project I believe. Jerry, this may be right down your alley. I also suggest we put some of the project cars down in the block building to spread everything over the space available...............john

What Chaz should do at this time is to figure out how he wants to chop the top and then we can figure out what doner parts he will have to find to bring with the car. This way we will allready have the basic chop figured out and when he gets here everything will be ready to go. We all like to chop tops and it will be a fun project for the meet. Dutch

I'm planning to bring the McBearen if there is room in a building to house it. I will be using the trailer for the few hours each night I will be sleeping. I've dubbed the trailer the McBEAREN HILTON and am looking forward to seeing how it works out.

Attached are some photos I took today after fastening the canvas panels to the extended clam-shell top. Not having been much of a camper (swore I'd never even go on a picnic after the Army, say nothing about camping for fun) I'll need to beg, borrow and steal some camping equippment for the MM outing.

Gator put me down for a project vehicle spot if you still have room. If not let me know so I won't drag it all the way to Oblong.

Well, I plan to have it finished except for the final touches of body work. Hopefully I can get some help and expert advise on techniques used by those experienced in body work.

Chaz - Dutch is planning ahead. Give us a few pictures of the car you're bringing, front, back, sides. It's a great exercise to analyze the chop way before hand, and like Dutch said, the donor parts can be identified and staged.

Hey Dick - That's the best news I've heard all week. So glad you're planning on coming, it will be a sincere pleasure to meet the man behind that project. See you there.
