Lightbulb Barbeque grill design

Anyone know of resources to find trick and functional Barbeque grill designs?

I want to build a large one out of a 300 gallon round tank and a medium size one.

Ideas? Pics? Links?

Thanks

Default my barbeque

My current barbeque, is a old hot water heater, cut in half on a 45, lower half is vertical, top half is horizontal. SMOKE cooks the meat. Gives it a smoky flavor. It is butt ugly and I am not proud of it. it works great thou.

My next one? it has a wonder wood heater to use full length wood. A divertor valve to control the heat going to the cooker or bypass it. A thermometer in the top this time. I got a retired heater sitting in my back yard waiting on me.. Probably use a couple of the $5 HF wheels on it.

A barbeque that does not get hot enough to turn the iron black is not hot enough. Mine goes from rusty to black in about twenty minutes.

If'n I was you? I'd build a memorable one. One with your state shape for a firebox.

Ya need me to bring my plasma cutter to Kerrys? Wanna stop by here and cut the parts out to weld there?
Anyone ever showed ya how to transfer a pattern to sheet by cross marks and designs on graph paper?
There is a retired man in Cleveland Tenn I taught that. He has made granny bending over in the garden and a dozen other plywood cutouts.

Doc, he built one that looks like a steam train. Smoke stack cow catcher and all. No pictures, sorry.. The wood stacks in the cab to store.

I've got a plasma cutter. No need to bring yours unless you want to cut more than 3/8"

Default Scaled squares

f you know this trick , ignore it please don't take as insult.

Description of Transfer of design to metal from graph paper.

You calculate height of design, figure out the scale to 1/4" block on graph paper. THEN, take a ruler and layout the cross marks on the steel or plywood sheet, or block building or, ??
Number the squares, number the graph paper. THEN, figure the square where the drawing crosses and make markes in the positions of the steel squares crossing drawing on the graph paper squares. Freehand connect the dots on the steel and you got a larger copy of the graph paper design.

I have saw block buildings with signs done the same way, water towers with drawings , designs or signs, etc..

Scales: just like a map or a engineered drawing to scale. No problem.

I am grey around the edges, paid attention to others all my life with my ears and eyes open. I have learned things from everyone around me no matter thier status in life and education.

Default Barbecue Grill Design

Jim, what's your idea of big? I don't have any pics yet, but I might be able to post some once our company barbeque comes back from the church we lent it to for the weekend. It is on a single axle trailer with grilles that open on both sides of the trailer. We are going to use it for breakfast at our car club's 45th rod run in September. There are flat grilles that can be put on it for doing sausages and pancakes, as well as burgers and steaks. The grille area is approximately six feet long by 3 feet side, on each side of the trailer, as well as a couple of big burners on the back for doing pots of corn, etc. There's also a big ice cooler on the front of it for b...., I mean cold drinks. Our salesmen pull it out to drilling rigs at shift change and cook meals periodically as promotions for customer appreciation, for the rig crews. I tried to find a site for the Barbecue Doctor in Calgary that builds them, but I was unable to find the link. Most of the oilfield service companies here in Alberta have big barbecues like this for promotional purposes. Ours should be back today or tomorrow, let me know if you'd like pics, if you're planning on building one this big. John V.O.

The 300 gal tank is 42" dia and 5 ft long.

It is for a friend and we need idears as we say it in the south.

It is better to borrow designs from someone and hopefully save some time I mean metal I mean welding rods oh heck you get the IDEAR, LOL.

Where do you guys get the little devils and rolling laughing animations ?

Jim, I just called our salesman, he tells me ours was made by Nortruck. Look up www.nortruck.com and scroll down to barbecue trailers. There's a bunch of pics on them there. John V.O.
