I believe the hypertherm machine does NOT use a high freq. start, important when using on a cnc controlled system.

I'd check the thermalD machine out and see if it does or not.

if you never expect to build or use it for a cnc plasma table then ignore this message!!!

I own a power 1250 and LOVE it, I have not used a modern ThermalD machine

i have a Thermal dynamics Pack masterm75 it has a high freq start i only use it by hand , works great . i have never owned a Hypertherm but never herd any thing bad . I think it is like comparing lincoln to miller welders they are both good. just the newer you get the better the older machines ( like 10 yeas or more ) are not a strong .

Hi,

I have a Thermodynamics unit and am completely satisfied. I've never used he other unit in question so I cannot give an objective opinion between the two.

I have never used the thermal dynamics but the hypertherm is a great machine. Price out the consumables on both machines. Sometimes those tend to cost more than the machine after a while.

Steweld, you are exactly right here. Find out how many of the consumables and other parts on the torch are individually patented, in particular, because that will determine whether you are going to be locked into buying consumables only from the OEM or whether you can buy more affordable parts from other suppliers. The OneTorch, for example, is totally patented by TD, and if you buy it, you are stuck buying consumables at high prices from them.

I can supply torches, leads, and consumables for both the HT 600 and the TD PCH-51 (or did you mean the Cutmaster 51 40 Amp system). Previous poster is right, the PCH-51 is a hi freak torch, while the 600 is not. Hi freak is not good if you have any sensitive electronics around, like a machine control computer, a shop computer, etc, but other than that they are all good products.

If you are talking about the Cutmaster 51, that system uses the OneTorch, which, as I said above, is totally patented and proprietary to Thermal Dynamics. It is a good torch, but if you get it, neither I nor any of the other aftermarketers can get you decent pricing on consumables.

If you want quotes on consumables for both torches for comparison, I can do that for you, either email me at mlorrey@thermacut.com, or call me at 800-932-8312, x 113. You can also fax in lists of parts for quotes to 800-972-6255.

I have a Hypertherm 600. Did everything I asked it to do. Even when it was rated at 7/8" severe, I did 1.200" ground plate. Wasn't pretty, but its in 2 pieces. Just what the job called for!
