Default Roll Forming

Has anyone built a roll former?

I'm looking to replace some rub rail on a airstream trailer, and I was thinking making a set of rolls that would bend up a strip of Aluminum into shape.

Just an idea......

could you use an english wheel with a go cart top wheel,

you could make the lower wheel to the profile you needed,

Paul,
Do you want to form some sort of molding like this.

That was done with aluminum dies in a pullmax.

This die

Turned this

into this

for some strange reason, the above image does not display.
I have attached it below.
This sort of die could be used in a cam driven machine like the one Anders built too.

Hello Ehsan,

The Aluminum is 3/4 in thick.
I did it in the pullmax with several passes
each a bit tighter than the last until I got down to the shape.

I'll shoot pictures of the the other dies and the tool holder.

You might want to to add yourself to our members map at

http://www.frappr.com/metalmeet

If you click on the outside US link and then start to type Raw . . .
you can pick Rawalapindi from the drop down list. Add a picture and a comment (they call it a shout-out) if you wish.
