I really appreciate the great photo / cad / drawing work everyone is doing to ensure that so many of the details are reviewed / changed - corrected.

It is an exciting process, expecially when it is accompanied by the quality of drawings and text.

This is truly an International event!

Hi David,

Yep, isn't it great, this is what it is all about.

The main lesson here is, anything is possible if we teach each other. Building a scratchbuilt car is a major undertaking that most shy away from because they lack a plan or the understanding of how to create a plan.

This thread will be a blueprint for all to follow when building their own automotive design preference. Once we document and establish the process here, the possibilities open up for everyone.

The side by side views, sketch next to model show a difference where the roof meets the top of the trunk deck. The model has a distinct corner and the sketch flows more from roof to trunk. Aside from appears to be a hump in the middle I like the sketch version better. Is it possible to make that area flow a bit better?

Yes, i had planed to change this . Another other update... I have added another 1" in height and a lot of room behind the driver now. I think there should be room for a 15" sub-woofer? I am starting to like the idea of the 117" WB more and more, if we did that we wouldnt have to worry about room, and the car wouldnt be overly huge...

i got to thinkin in the past couple of days that the pantera is a prety small car, so i went to see one... ok, smaller than i thought in person. Sometimes a picture doesnt cut it, you have to see it in person. If the bug was that small, i think we will need a can opener to get in and out .

I have also updated the PDF

It's not that important in design terms....maybe, like the engine, the Sultan should indicate a preference. We would be lucky to agree on rim choice, and like the engine, they are "over the counter" items. (Unless we design and make our own.)

The biggest current sticking point seems to be the cabin design, and from my own measuring of cars, I think there is enough room, and that now it is just the shape, the "look"......mainly of the cabin/roof area.....that ppls are debating, but other details will come into debate too.

If ppls can include some sort of doctored pic in posts, it is easier for others to see if a shape or idea "works"...
I think the cabin might work for size, but it will be tight and probably uncomfortable. You should not ride if you are clostorphobic.

I am planning on making some mags like these...

I saw a couple of pages back someone had sized up a drawing of the proposed engine? has it been checked against the 105" wheelbase drawing?

That would be a deciding factor as the lump is tall and long.

The nice thing about these motors is as they were in production from 48 till the mid 80's there are piles of them available. there are 3 displacements (in USA cars) 3.4, 3.8 and 4.2 liter

Higher compression engines are more desireable and the engine numbers end with compression. So a 32435-8 would have 8 to 1. you will find 7,8 and 9's. This may not really matter as Jag's use piston height to set compression and I assume we are talking a full rebuild. Later 1960's heads are prefered by most , but I've been told early 80's fuel injection heads have the largest valves. Anyone know the truth to this?

Am i stiring things up? I am under the assumption this is the engine settled on?

We should decide on a motor, figure a basic way to hold the motor, and see how it fits. If we are talking V12 then, ummm.... sailboat. Jag, straight 6/8, not a sailboat

no you didnt miss anything... i wanted to see what it would look like a little bigger... I think the 117 would work. Like i said earlier i didnt realize the pantera was that small

I think this image also gives us a good idea on where the tunnel and frame could sit.

YES!
That's also how the doors "went into the roof" in the original drawings. Kind of like a plane.
