Default shot bags

Hello All,
I wish I was able to attend MM03. Next year. Wray asked for questions so here goes. What is the proper or prefered amount to fill a bag I believe that I may have over filled mine. When forming there does not seem to be enough area for the metal to displace into. My nine year old daughter :P is in the process of forming a bowl with me and when we hit into the panel the bag dosen't form the hollow that is shown on the videos etc. I will be removing some of the filler but do not want to remove to much.

Thanks
Tim

Default shot bags

Hi Tim,

A sandbag should be quite full. After a while the leather will start to relax just like an old shoe.
All the bag has to do is give a little, it's the accumulated hammer blows that make the shape happen not the depression in the bag.

More hamme blows and concentrate them in circular zones , with the most in the area that needs the highest crown and then in the outer zones you fade it to less and less.
