At this time I don't anticipate the need for a pan under the swing arm. But it sure would be neat to have one. I believe that it wouldn't be hard to do, But a thought comes up about heat in the motor area. It may cause the motor to run hot , see what I mean.

---John, heat is one of the things that I am worried about. My engine will be enclosed in the rear section, and also have a full belly pan. I am going to try some louvers on the side panels, and if necessary maybe some air scoops.

Scoops and louvers in any type race car look good. I plan on louvers and scoops, some for looks and some for function. Louvers pointed away from the direction you are going will pull heat from the motor area those should be high. But I think I will still leave my bottom open to allow lots of air into the motor area. Maybe even a large scoop under the car.

John and Tony,
I worked all day on a cheap and hopefully easy way to make louvers. Funny you both mentionsed them today in your posts. I'll post photos this evening on the Gallery Section so you can see what I came up with. I'm sure you two can make improvements, as I will, as the discovery process continues. First results are promising although thay are a bit rough at the moment and I'm not sure they will be able to be pressed into all panel shapes. I'm thinking that I'll make small louver paneletts to attach onto the primary body part. That way I won't have to worry about messing up a perfectly acceptable piece when the louver cutter (me) messes up. Take a look (in a while) on the Gallery Dick

Nice job Dick. Now you need to make a finish buck to clean them up. Check out the one I made this morning. Hay Tony you had a good idea there.

---Dick, your louvers look great. I like your louvering machine, simple and easy to make. Stan Lobits had one similar to yours at Dutch's shop last year. The panel that I need to place louvers into has some shape. I am wondering if I can stamp louvers into it without flattening it out to much. I may have to find some one that has a pullmax with a louver attachment.
---Tony.

If you think about it you can make louver dies for your bead roll. I haven't done it yet but I plan to. You could make different sizes. I plan on making one that is 1/4" wide and 1/8" deep. If you use the bead roll you could make them any length that was needed. Then all you would need is a end finish buck. Ijust think I'll go do that right now!!!!!
