Default Picked up an Anvil

Picked this Anvil up at an Antique Swapmeet in Brimfield,Ma this weekend. Cost me $300 for the 150lbs. Any one know anything about it. It say Trenton and Germany on it. It looks like it was shot at with a shotgun. Somebody ground the tip to. After further inspection it was welded at the tip and ground. Where can i get a hardy? Should I clean the Anvil up

Hi.
<Should I clean the Anvil up >
I'd mount it on a stump first so it'd be higher off the ground. Of course I am of the age when anything close to the floor is harder to reach.

Make your own tools.. stakes, tongs.. etc.. a good book will show how. I got a six foot piece of railroad track, no anvil.. no room for it inside either. Just like a ewheel the finish transfers to the work.

32Chevy ( insert name here ) $2 a lb is not a bad deal. Can't tell a lot from the picture about the anvil. I looked for a few years to find a good one out west.

If you plan on using it of course ya have to clean it up. If ya want a 150lb door stop it's already there!

Anvil looks like it has both the Hardy Hole, and the Pritchet Hole. Nice find! Not a bad price you didn't get hurt on it I think.

Very nice, it looks good and usable. I hope you already have the forge.

If you need help the people at www.iforgeiron.com can give a lot of advice, and you can get in contact there with a blacksmith in your area.

trenton are good anvils. i have an acme, which was made by trenton and sold by sears. $2.00 a lb is a really good price. do you know what size the hardy whole is? hardy tools are easyer to make then they are to find. do clean it up and keep it clean. good luck with your new toy.
