hi.

kinda looks like the bead on the top of my homemade tbucket body. As I was rolling it around the back corner, I crushed it trying to make it "shrink" too fast.

Your tools are? pullmax, helve? not a whole lotta shape there in that panel. A lot of curve... ie gocart slick will shape the top, the bottom will have to be beaded then hammer formed to make it roll.. If you cut a wood hammer form you just tap it to it.

David
this piece is deceiving , it has a rolling taper top to bottom . It is just as it sits on the truck . the beltline or bead detail has a slight taper ; No machine tools just stump- ,e wheel, homemade bead roller. sand bags .
I made one years back by splitting the bead legnhtways. lost on the crash.

There are a lot better carpenters than me here to guide you through a hammerform for the bottom.
Stack of mdf? or one of our english fellas here likes steel.. seems like a waste thou if you only need one.

I've wanted to try the liquid castable polymers.. spray a release agent in, cast right to the part. I tried that with fiberglass/bondo years ago, I used aluminum foil for the release layer.. I made a mess of it. I had tacked together a 66 mustang front end and tried to dupe it in fiberglass over thin tube.. Last I seen of it, the neighbors horses had trampled it flat.

Hi Larry,

Unless you're going to make a bunch of them, making a lot of tooling is not worth the time!!!

Do it like you did before and put the weld in a place easy to dress out again!!
