Wheel size

I was looking at Wray Schelin's Webb sight and notist that all of the ewheels
In the pics had very wide wheels. I under stand the wider gives you more contact area but wouldn't it limt you if you are doing a fender for a bike or an old car with a narrow fender ? Just wondering the pros an cons of the width ?
