Default Frame Dimension, Tubing Size and Stiffness

Sometimes folks come here and ask for plans for ewheel frames. I made a “universal” model from ¼” PDF the other day. Laid it out on my basement floor and did some measuring and wrote the numbers for different frame sizes. I decided to not make the “corner pieces” and lower horizontal arm shorter than 8.5”, no matter which frame size. No scientific reason for that. Just the way I want a frame to look like. All frame dimensions are based upon having a 8” upper and 3” lowers. 4” square tubing for upper adjuster housing. Lower tool arms measurements do not include mounting plate thickness!! His means that if you want to be able to change lower tool arm, you’ll have to take that into consideration!

How to read the numbers: “Throat” means horizontal distance from inside back bone (“C”) to center of anvils contact point. “A” is the inside length of the upper horizontal tool arm (the one the adjuster mounts to.) ”B” is inside length of upper “corner tubing”. “C” is the vertical back bone of the frame. “D” is the lower “corner tubing”. “E” is inside length of lower horizontal arm. Lower tool-arm is inclined to a 45* angle measured on the inside of the tool-arm! The “platform” that holds the lower yoke in position is 3” x 3” on all frames mentioned! “Fi” is the inside length of the lower tool-arm and “Fo” is the outside length.
Hope this will be of use for future e-wheel builds!!

Sorry guys! Will have to figure a way to clean up this mess. Couldn't insert a Word spread sheet and couldn't attach it because of file size limit. Will be back later

Very much what I need. I have had a set of Hoosier wheels sitting on the shelf for a while and need to get this done. I find the choice of designs/sizes overwhelming and when you add in the "art" wheels it gets even more so.

Figure the 26 inch size will do anything I ever need and not need to buld a separate shop to house it!

"Thunderous Applause"! Thanks Anders!!

Would it be helpful to add the frame stiffness calculator to this thread or would it add confusion???

Had some drawings made in CAD Almost corresponding to anders measurements except for the material used!
These drawings are in 8x4"x0.31wall thickness. OR 200x100x8mm
Hope this helps.

Anders my friend that is really a nice thing to do and provide the group with. Great reference for future builders.

Didn't we use to have an area where stuff like this was kept? Do we still have the library area?
