Default places to sell the art?

I'm looking for suggestions for galleries to sell the indoor decorative art. I'm specifically interested in galleries in larger cities that might also offer design services to their clients. I make more money off of custom work, but I'd like to sell the smaller pieces and one-of-a-kind work as well.

Any suggestions?

I don't have the time or childcare to go scope out all of the gallery districts, so I'm hoping some of you city folks have some ideas for me.

Hi Kirsten, You have the same problem that any of us on the site have. To really get started you have to spend about 50% of your time out marketing your product.Do You have a website and how good is it and does it get a lot of interest? You may have to hunt around and hire someone to help you market your product. You will have to look over different artistic shows and pick out ones that will work for your craft and show your product so that it can be seen by the type of reseller you are looking for. This road is long and hrd but worhwhile in the end. Hi Kirsten,

Dutch pretty much hit the nail on the head. We have to get out there to sell.

While at a "show" yesterday there was at least one family with a baby. One of the artists there does shows in your state and Minn. because it's cooler.

I have some luck with my state tourism department, city and county web sites keeping up with events. This site; www.CraftLister.com does a pretty good job on the free side, if you contribute you get some "member" features.

This doesn't answer your question about finding a gallery. Some searching will find them as well. But you will be selling at a "discount" to someone that is committed to you, themselves and many others as well. They will need to mark it up significantly. They do not pay the day it's sold. There is no free ride, spend your time or get paid a lot less with indirect feedback.

My 2.5 cents
