Default Hammer advice please

I have need/desire for a planishing hammer and have been offerred a Chicago Pneumatic. It is in great shape and yes...rather expensive too. Any opinions of this type versus a new design such as Tin Man or? etc...
I appreciate any opinions you all may have.

If you have a chance to buy a CP for a good price, go for it! They are great hammers. If you are going to use it and can justify the price, buy it. Post some pics if possible, and some further info and maybe some others can post prices they paid for theirs to help you decide yes, or no.

Brian =)

Default CP Thanks Brian

I am encouraged when you say that they are great hammers, thanks.
Is there a source for different shape dies?
Jeff

Hoosier Pattern makes CP style (and others as well) dies. VERY nice and reasonable also. The CP style (Michigan Pnuematic also) are much superior to the muffler guns and more controllable than the rivet guns because you have a direct foot to hammer feedback mechanism. That is, the harder you press, the harder/faster it hits and it pushes back at you so you can 'feel' it. With air valves you can control the pressure but have no feedback other than sound.
