Yes I did Larry

It was some of the money from my blood clot insurance compensation.
Hopefully they're improving from this day forward

I grabbed the files and couldn't open any of them in my best cad software, so I turned to my low cost package. Opened them up and converted them to igs files so I could load them directly into 3D.

There were some open circles, but nothing that can't be fixed. If I find the time I'll try to work up the 3D models as I interpret the 2D and post them back up to see if you agree.

Were these dwg's in metric or inches? I'll be able to tell once I get going on them, but it may be helpful for others.

I was also able to open the files with a bit of fooling around. I have 4 programs that should in theory open them. One of them did for sure.

When I converted the dwg to dxf, I came up with a drawing with 4,000+ short line segments for the upper frame only. It's still usable, but more complicated than necessary. The whole file should be only 4 or 5 arcs and a handful of straight lines. I'm assuming the short segments are possibly due to this being designed in a graphics type program rather than a vector CAD type. Plus, the translations could have done it.

Short line segments can be a problem for some of the low end and home made plasma machines that don't have fast processors. The short segments cause jerky motion which can cause the machine to pause slightly between segments and will leave a mark on the part.

OOPS, I thought Tinhead was talking about the files for ewheel posted in the other thread. I'll try these later but suspect the same thing will come up.
