Default "Professional"?

Well, as of today I've quit my job as a biologist after 18 years and am a full time artist. I'll be splitting time between Kodiak Alaska and Seattle Washington. I made a humpback whale today in preparation for an art show in Sitka, AK. It should be an interesting ride!
Wish me luck; its for real now.
-Mark

Congratulations Mark,
I did the same thing this last April. After working or the same person for thirty five years, I ventured out on my own. It is frigtening and very hard work but it dose get better. I have a wonderful wife and friends that given me help and moral support. Don't be affraid to ask for help when you need it. We as a metalshaping community are here for you also. Every day something, big or small, happens that affirms that the change was the right thing for me to do. The very best of luck to you. Your work is wonderful. Just keep putting your name out there, be honest, work your butt off and it will work out. Rick

Congratulations Mark. I did the same thing about 12 years ago. For years I worked the day job and did sign work at night & weekends. I procrastinated a long time. A freind of mine was in the same situation and we would constantly as each other when we were gong to pull the plug. We both did, and we both have said since many times we should have done it sooner.

By the looks of your work you'll do fine.

I started my own business fairly young, my buddies all thought it was easy to run a business. So when they started up theirs I would say "now your making money!" most of them have gone back to working for someone else and work part time for themselves. Most are seasonal / construction related jobs.
Good luck! tt

Good luck Mark!

As a buddy once said: Life is written is chapters, the last one ends now and a new begins here!
Do the things you're happy with and you'll do it fine!
