Default Boeing Surplus - the Perpetual Garage Sale

Last Saturday I made a run to Boeing Surplus to see if they would have a thin, open end 3" wrench to remove the die retention nuts on the Marshalltown throatless shear that I bought a month or so ago.

Indeed they did.

They threw in the dirt and grease for free.

Of course, while I was there I had to see what else I couldn't live without.

Have you ever tried pushing around a grocery cart with over 350 pounds in it?

I just couldn't pass up the heavy wall 4" square tubing drops at $0.25 per pound. The square edged ones must have been for an interesting application as one wall is thicker than the other three.

This $2.00 crank happens to be an exact fit for the bed-raising ratchet mechanism on my hydraulic press.

For $5.00, I just couldn't pass up this interesting foot pedal and all the heavy brackets.

I know, its a disease. I also bought some more punch card cabinet drawers at a buck a pop, the heavy-lift cables, etc.

I'm jealous! All you have to put up with is 45 days of rain each month and you get Boing Surplus and Starbucks.

We have heat, humidity, and tornados and all we get are mosquitos, chiggers, and flying mobile homes. We do have occasional good deals on used double wides that have been redistributed over about 40 acres.

Kerry,

The truth is it's only 35 days of rain each month, we just tell everyone 45 so more people won't move here.<lol> Just to set the record straight, there are some of us that don't drink coffee.

BTW, when I get home I'll send you the levers. I'm in Texas, heading towards Phoenix tomorrow and will be home by the end of the month.

If I lived closer to a surplus center such as that, I would be in deep trouble.

My latest purchase, a (Sata Paint Gun) was pretty much decided for me since I was lucky enough to ruin both passenger side door skins on my pick-up truck (last night) by introducing them to an unseen but definitely felt steel post strategically placed within a Denver parking lot. One more project on the pile.

Peter; any special (project) ideas on the new/used Boeing equipment?

I moved from Seattle to Maine in '97. This is one of the things I miss. Surplus tools, a good stock of old cars floating around, and good Thai food.

Oh, and every time I see Peter post something, the Lake Forest Park location pops out at me, having grown up by there and lived there for a while. I have fond memories of the north end of Lake Washington.

I'm heading out to Marysville in July. Maybe I should start looking into shipping by freight for the likely shopping spree.

Hi Peter,

I think you need to have a MRI done soon to find out where in your body the large magnet must be that attracts so much ferrous material.

Some day we should all weigh our collection of tools and stock. Truth be told I bet I'm in the top ten percent of the highest weight.

Peter
Missed you again.
I was at Surplus on Friday. Only filled my truck up 1/2 way!

Leaving a surplus store, or a garage sale with an empty truck, is a sign of a sick mind.........

Default Boeing Surplus

Everyone should go to Wray's just to see the basement of his house. I forgot to take pics when I was there. Its unbelievable. Wray, your wife must really love you. I know my wife wouldn't put up with that, in fact, my wife and daughter are kicking me out of the second story on my garage. I can't believe I allowed that to happen.

Peter,Peter,Peter, I don't know what to say other than, you better go sit with your nose in the corner for awhile again, and Jeffrey, if you took another half a truckload home, you better go join him. John V.O.

Talking 1/2 truck load

Yes I should go sit in the corner!

I just stopped by for less then 10 minutes. I just wanted an other go kart slick. They have a tub skid full for only $5 each. Just before I got to them, I tripped over a mechanics chair, and had to buy it!!!

The chair had 3 go kart slick's on it, and my son Alex, wouldn't get off it!!

I'll post pictures tonight.

Yes Anders, I was on a budget!!

I was trying to get out of there before I bought this bandsaw!!!

Most of the people that work at the store know me, and they keep pointing out things that I should be taking with me, so it is really hard to get away with only 1/2 my truck full!

Here is one of the little press's that we are surplusing out of my building. It is only 900 tons, stands about 24 feet above the floor, and 12 feet below floor level. It's hard to see in the picture, but there is a row with 12 of these press's, most are 1200 tons.
