MetalMeet Members,
The Board of Directors voted unanimously to raise the entry fee to $100.00 for the week. We had a lot of debate on whether or not to have a $50.00 entry fee for those that can't attend for the whole week. We thought it over and to enforce who was who would be a real problem..... One hundred dollars is a very small price to pay for what you can get out of an International MetalMeet! All funds collected go to cover the groups expenses, not one cent will go to any member. Because bringing large items like brakes and shears are a real burden on some of the members we will look into purchasing a few tools that will be owned by the group. When not used they will be stored at Randy Ferguson's shop where he also will have use of them. Randy has agreed to purchase the group's tools over a five year period making quarterly payments in full for the tools. He will also have final word on purchasing the tools because eventually they will be his and the MM group will have been paid back but the group will still get to use them after the five years are over. This is a great way for the group to show it's appreaciation for the help and sacrifice that Randy and Michelle have made to help build the MetalMeet group having been site sponsors for two years in a row and having held many regional meets. Any extra funds that the group has after all expenses can be returned to the group in the form of prizes and awards. Any vendor of sheetmetal shaping tools or services that would like to attend MM05 only has to pay the $100.00 for the whole week same as any member. In order for this craft to grow we like to see our members also grow sheetmetal shaping related businesses. If you have a product or service that is sheetmetal shaping related by all means make sure you take advantage of the oppurtunies and help build the community. Jerry Kennedy will post the liability release form tonight . Check should be made out to MetalMeet05 send it to : Jerry D. Kennedy Registrar 606 Orlando Dr. Robinson, IL. 62454

I believe the consensus is that Indianapolis is the best place to fly in.
It is about 2 1/2 hours to Oblong so I would recommend a rental unless you can hook up with someone else coming to MM05. Best Western hotel has been the place of choice in Robinson the last two years but there is a place in Oblong which would be closer. Neal |

Chicago to Robinson: 246 miles
Indianapolis to Robinson: 122 miles St. Louis to Robinson 149 miles I think you need to take into account whether you can get a non-stop flight to Indianapolis. It is certainly the shortest driving distance. However, if you had to change planes somewhere, a non-stop to Chicago and drive from there might be the same amount of time. |
