Lots of places, along with tips about how to do it better,
tales of frustration by people having problems and helpful suggestions for solving them.

Look at the top of the page right next to the logo,
The second Item over is

Search
click on that and
type
tuck step
in the search window,
check the box for search for ALL terms.

click search.

Scroll through it till you find a likely suspect and read.
There is lots of great stuff there.

Default Tucking

Chadwick, Get on the list to get a metalshaping 101 video from Kerry Pinkerton. It shows you exactly how to make and crush tucks. Bill

Instead of a patronizing and information-free response like "use the search" that will lead to results of three pages and 122 articles, a more welcoming and helpful response might be to suggest this article by Wray as a place to start:

www.metalmeet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=905&highlight=trap+tuck

This seems to be one of the best explanations and discussions, and will probably lead to other words to search.

Good luck,
Mike

Default Tuck shrinking

There's nothing like seeing the process in action. There's a movie of tuck shrinking here:

I would love to watch this movie, but I can't figure out what program to open it with. Any suggestions?

Hi ScottieB

Use RealPlayer - it works for me.
The tucking video is very good.

Thanks DK, that worked out great. I love this site!
The video raised a question, it looked and sounded like he was just flattening the tucks. I read hear that wouldn't work. Just another new guy getting cunfused again.

Scottie,

He wasn't just flattening the tucks. He gave the tuck some fast, hard blows on top and then a little bit on the sides, to form a sharper bend in order to trap the metal. Then, when you hit the tuck, the metal hasn't got anywhere to go, but "into itself". You could also see that an edge/flange was actually raised on the panel. That means, shrinking must have appeared

Great video, but a lot of people talking in the background. Made it hard for me to understand what they were saying, but Heck... "the pics were in DANISH"

I watched it twice before posting. I'll just have to watch it two more times to see if I can see what you saw. Thanks for the reply.
