I just picked up a small torch setup for welding sheetmetal. I have a Victor J-28 torch and small regulators. They both have "A" size fittings.
I'm new at this but from what I understand for 18ga. I will be using a 00 tip and between 3 and 5 psi on both gasses to weld. Do I still need to get a set of flashback arrestors? Thanks, Todd

Todd,
For safety's sake Yes! I do know some people who don't have them, I hope they never need them. Also only open the acetylene a 1/4 turn, if it doesn't have a handle, leave the wrench on it, knock on wood, twice I have had a acetylene regulator fail just after lighting the torch. They say I moved so fast they didn't even smell acetylene, I heard it..... Did I mention I don't care for explosions nearby???? tt;)

Yes Todd even at low pressures check valves and flashback arrestors are cheap insurance against explosions. Don't leave home without um! :D

Just thinking out loud here, but check with your insurance company and you local Fire Department, I had the old Chief walk thru the shop and see if he saw problems. Last time the "new chief" was here I was taking him behind the shed to cuss him out! They set my chimney back on fire!!!! I can put one out in less than a minute.... they can't!!!!
