Christopher,

There are plenty of things for spouses to do in the area while the guys play with metal.

Last year we had dinner Saturday night on the wharf. http://www.cityofsantacruz.com/index.aspx?page=648

After which we went to Michael Leeds (Blastolene Brothers http://www.blastolene.com/roadkill.htm) shop.

Michael was working on this http://www.blastolene.com/Work_in_Progress/1942ranger.htm.

Santa Cruz is at one tip of Monterey Bay, so about an hour away is Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Pebble Beach, Reggie Jackson's car collection, Monterey Bay Aquarium, etc.

All I can say, is it's worth the trip to see the side of the pond where the sun sets.

Finally got around to finishing the hood I stated at this years event for my sons car. Still have some planishing to do and build the inner structure for the cowl mounted hinges.

I guess we are going to plan B
I got a call today from John Forbes. He wants to change the date. He has gotten several calls telling him that the date in the same as a BIG car show in Santa Maria (I think). I have also recieved several calls and Emails about the same event. Everyone wants to go to both, and asked if we can change it. John is going to contact Lazze, Ron, and Kent to get a new date. I will post more information as soon as I know. I hope this doesn't cause a problem.

Rick has opened registration for his event, and has begun publishing the list of those who have their money in. As the event is limited to 60 people, I'm assuming it will sell out fairly quickly.

I've learned that the University of Santa Cruz graduation will be on the same weekend. So motel rooms down in the town of Santa Cruz might be a bit limited. However, towns that are actually closer to the event might have rooms. Search for Scotts Valley, Felton, Ben Lomand, Boulder Creek.

Ron Covell, Lazze have both confirmed they will be there. Kent White is still a maybe at this time. Bailiegh Industrial will be coming from Wisconsin with their Power Hammer, Bead Roller and shrinker. http://www.baileighindustrial.com/metal-forming/

Rick Scott will be bringing the Mechhammer, bead roller, english wheel and other goodies. Rick is the authorized builder and seller of the Mechhamer in the US. Here's a video of inventor Ben (another member here) using it and some other tools. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgBssTtPww8

The cost covers Saturday lunch.

Bring safety equipment - eye, ear and hand protection.

Search for pictures of the last two years events to get more info.

Tom Stephens and John Nissen of Nissen's Hot Rod Shop in Williams will be there. They've completed many projects including Tom's award winning truck Vendetta http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSeqd9cnJX0

I'm hoping to arrange a tour of Michael Leed's shop for Saturday night. http://www.blastolene.com/The_Artists.htm

The event is held at John Forbes shop. You'll find his work at: http://www.bdartglass.com/bdartglass/welcome.html

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Don't worry, we'll keep you busy with questions.

Noise makers!

On a serious note. If you are coming and if there is something specific you'd like to see demo'd, worked on, or whatever, you might make a post.

Also, if you have a specific demo you'd like to do, there will be a white board there and you just put down the time and place on it, so that everyone will know.

Tuck shrinking? Shrinking disc? Oil cans? Dent repair? Bucks? Pullmax? etc, etc

I would also like to give a big thank you to all the different people and companys that suported this years event with door prizes. I think just about everyone who showed up got something. We are not talking small cheap things ether, but rather DVDs, books, shirts, tools, gift cards and my personal favorite the louvered and pin stripped panel that will be finding a place on my wall in my shop.
Hope eveyone made it home safe and also hope you all plan on coming back next year if we are all invited.
