2012 Godspeed Metalshaping Event?

I'm throwing some feelers out for a spring meet to;
1, see who might be interested,
2, to have something do in the spring..

This is what I was thinking... $20 bucks for the weekend.
Show up on Friday, work Saturday, wrap up Sunday. I've been working to get two meals for that price (the church has offered one meal) I have plenty of ground for camping, I can get scotty potty's... Ihave a small shop but I do have a bigger morton building, and have a large canopy tent. It'll probably be a RSVP kinda thing..

Sometime in the second or third way in May..

What-ya-think?

I can get the buck back from Johnny and have one built already to make patterns off of..
So you can SEE what you are making, it's a common goal, it's not overly hard to shape...

hi ron ,you know a may meet -might be neat ? in the spring there is less to do than fall for me ,mowing,leaves,patio ferniture to put away,cars to put in storage ? id be interested in a meet ! you know when randy ferguson had his meets i learned more -because we all worked on a similiar part ! less time to bench race ,bull**** ? anyway $20.00 dont seem ;like much,its alota of work on you and your family ! i always try to give more soo a meet provider is never put out of family funds to give to his fellow metal meeters !!!anyway if you plan on one let everybody know THANKS mike"carryallman" wahl

Ron: Would you consider getting ahold of Randy & Doug & the possibility of having a meet in the spring in Oblong? Since it would probably be a smaller & shorter event only one building would need opened & there is a good chance some of the folks that do the meals etc would be happy to participate. Just a thought.

Ron my friend can you kind of firm up a date one this? Trying to get 2 weekends in a row off can be kind of tuff for me.

You do it and I will do my dead level best to make it my first priority!

I have been trying to build up a ''flyer'',,,

It's going to be May 17..

Your welcome to come camp out Fri-Sunday. I am charging $20, but that gets you a meal and instruction. We will be trying to build another belly-tanker body...

Personal safty equuipment will be needed; safety glasses, welding helmet, gloves, hearing protecting...

I have some equipment (I should have 3 EW there and power hammer) but you are welcome to bring anything that you think that you will need,

Ron I am getting warmed up to place an order for 19 guage DQfor my event and could carry this over to your guests as well .Last year the 4x10 s were 60.00 and I havnt called yet but hope they havnt gone up too much . As I am comming to your event I can bring along pre ordered sheets for anyone that orders before hand .

LOL pointed out to me that I need to clearify...

Its can start Friday, with Saturday being the 'main day' and everybody is welcome to hang out or leave Sunday.

I'm going to try and have everthing setup before Friday, so those who show up can set up their 'camping' or help make some new FSP's or bench race.. I'll be home all day Friday

Saturday, we'll get into it. Help the new guys get started, the more expeirenced(spellcheck) guys can make a panel or two... Lunch/supper in there somewhere:lol:

Sunday is just a finish up/clean up/ whatever kinda day

As a fellow host of metalshaping events it is incredibly hard to be a mind reader and somehow imagine how many will show up for our events .This may seem to some as a long way off to wory about such nonsence but believe me the sooner we can get a handle on who is comming to an event the better .

When was the last one in your area and how many more will there be if you make it too hard on the hosts of these events . These are a highlight in my year , but can be also a nightmare if all of a sudden several unexpected people show or worst case they plan for more and they dont show up .Just put yourself in there shoes and ask if you would like to plan the next one .

Get off your thumbs and start showing the respect Ron has earned for hosting and let him know sooner than latter .

Hi Ron,

Thank you for hosting the event. Lilly and I enjoyed meeting your family and seeing your projects. It takes a lot of effort to put on any type of event and you did a fine job of it. Everyone who attended helped to make it even better, thanks to all of you. Btw, it was only 170 miles from here to there and well worth the trip. Those who weren't there missed out on a very plesant day.

Lilly and I had to leave early in the afternoon, I was in the onset of sprint car fever. I would have enjoyed hearing those old fours fire up. LIlly got me out of there in just the nick of time (she hopes).
