Hello.
I'm working on a Volvo Amazon (4door) and I'm having some trouble finding out how I should get room for my wheels? They are way to wide for my body, but they look great;) I think I would like to make the body wider, rather than build it inward.I can make the wheelarches a little wider inwards, but I would like to make a big change of the chassis as well.Hmm,any idea? Anyone? Here's some pics of the car:

That will not be easy on a 4-door car. And I think it would not look good.

BTW. Do you know if that car ran on X- plates when new?
My father had a yellow 4-door on X- plates. When I drove it to school some did not know where those plates came from, and 4-doors were very uncommon. It was the only one around here. So I told them it was X as in eXperimental. :D

I may be able to find the number too from old pictures. If it should happen to be that car you are not allowed to hack it. You have to sell it! ;-)

X-plates?whats that.I'm not sure about the mk wings.think that may look weird.Hmm, I was thinking to wide out the entire side. The back fenders, front an rear door an a little bit on the front fender. But I also think I have to cut the wheel arches as well.I think it's a litle much to take it all outwards.I will post up some pics of the wheels later today. Then it's maybe easier to see?Maybe??

Eugen,

Take a look at this one... I wouldn't do it the way this guy did, but I like the shape

Thanks Anders and Anders:) I kind of like the shape on the first one exept the arches. But i was thinking to cut almost the same way on top of the fender, only pulling it more out maybe so i keep the original shapes of the arches.I put some marks on this pic,if anyone understand it:rolleyes:

I've allways liked the amazon... Here's the one I built 35 years ago when I lived in England... It was my first Kustom!!

Yeah, I like them too.I think it's the finest body volvo ever made:) But I don't want to keep it original:cool: Kustom rules:)

You could do as a guy here did in the late sixties. He cut a Volvo PV basically down the center and widened it about 10cm. It was also lowered, but not to the extreme. The car looked very different from original, but few could spot what was done until they were told.
I'm not so sure that would be more work than what you are planning here. All cuts perpendicular to the centre plane will be easier.

And I don't know if the cut was down the centre or at both sides on the inside of the car.

And X-plates were from Troms at the time when we had one letter plates.

Aha.I saw a guy did the same thing on a amazon once.saw it "live" at the Elmia Motorshow in Sweden. It looks great but I'm worried about all the things that follows.Front and rear window, axels etc. So I don't think that's what I go for. I go for the sides I think.
