You guys are a bright bunch so I will just ask you.

Becky (CARStoo) bought a treadmill at an auction. It works when it wants to so I am glad we didn't pay much for it.

It will start off and run for a couple minutes. Stop for a couple seconds, and start up for a few seconds, then just quit all together.

What I would like to do is get rid of all the "bells and whistles". It's a 1 1/2hp 12V DC motor. I know some people have used these motors for metal shaping machines over the years. Is it possible to install a simple speed controller after the 110v/12v converter, before the motor?? Then it is a simple set and forget for her. I can always put a floorjack under the front if she needs an incline

stops and starts? loose connection?
erratic behavior is the sign of the controller going haywire, search online for a wiring diagram, the motor controller should be sorta separate, parallel from the bells and whistles. Just some generalization thrown out there, with no diagram should really play Sgt.Schultz (Hogan's Heros)

I just took the covers off of it during the lunch hour. It's a 90 volt motor. (I thought I saw a sticker that said 12v... oh well)

I started un-plugging, cleaning, and re-plugging things into the circuit board. Same thing happens. I unplug the heart rate/blood pressure finger-thingy and it keeps running! So the issue is in the circuit board somewhere. I guess as long as she doesn't want to monitor her vitals, it is going to work.

If it acts up again, one of two things are going to happen.

1st: get a speed controller

2nd: get a speed controller and remove the motor/power supply from this tread machine and power my bead roller!

Danny, The Surplus Center doesn't have any "cheap" controls in stock right now. Thanks for the tip though!
