My shop space is limited so I came up with this neat little idea. Its a universal pedestal for the sandbag, welding, the tube bender , the buffer , and what ever else I use .
I went ovet the the neighbors scrap pile and found a 8" sqaure tube for the leg portion. A little grinding, welding , drilling and painting ... and I came up with this.

There are 4 tapped/ threaded holes for mounting items as needed.

Jogyver: Looks Good!!.....but a couple things.....those square corners look like the perfect thing to poke you in the belly, or worse yet catch you in the hip bone as you pivot to walk away.....I would round them off.
An, instead of having to bolt/unbolt each time you want to switch tools, by using the tube from a receiver hitch embedded in the stand, and a short piece of the smaller tube mounted to each tool, then all you need do is lift one tool off, and drop the next one on!! If really worried, you could use a through pin to secure them, but most of the force will be torsional, so they shouldn't go anywhere.

With shop space being a constant limiting factor,I felt that sometimes a person needs the open floor also.So what I did was bury a receiver in the floor that will except a similler post like yours ,but one I can remove for open space.I made a table of aluminum fof layout that hangs on the wall as well as the ability to put my portable bender, S/S,shot bag or whatever else I want.

I found this tube bender at a neighbors garage sale . I believe it was part of a very bad divorce. I paid $50 for it.
Its a Hinds Hand Tube & Pipe bendeder.

Mounts to any work bench, sets up in minutes! Will bend up to 180 degrees & SAFELY UP TO 14 GUAGE (OR .080 WALL) Capacity Mild Steel or Equivalent. Dies Included in Set: Actual Outside Diameters are Listed, (Not Pipe Sizes). Die Round Sizes & Radius's are as follows: 3/8" OD. X 2" RADIUS / 1/2" OD. X 2-1/2" RADIUS / 9/16" OD. X 3" RADIUS / 5/8" OD. X 3-1/4" RADIUS / 3/4" OD. X 4" RADIUS / 7/8" OD. X 4-1/2" RADIUS. Die Square Size & RADIUS is 3/4" Square X 4" RADIUS / 1" Square X 5" RADIUS. 180 DEGREE OF BEND CAPABILITY.

You can find them of Ebay for $129 -$150

Route56wingnut - Great idea . You're more a man than I am to anchor that base mount throught the concrete. I just used industrial concrete anchors that are similar to the ones use to anchor two post car lifts. I just unbolt and move.

On one of the pics you will see a stainless plug I made for it.It fits in the recess I milled in the plate.I also drilled and tapped holes so that if I am using it with a post dolly or a form and want to use turnbuckles or straps to pull the material while I am forming it I can.Dan

I believe that's what you see in the third picture in the upper right corner. The concrete is recessed (using the plug) and the plug then becomes flush with the floor. Neatly executed idea Dan http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

On edit: After Dan's post I see that he has buried the plate in the floor. It looked like concrete at first glance. Even a neater idea!
