The BR-16E-36 bead roller from Baileigh Industrial is a machine that will change the metal forming industry. It has all the best features that fabricators want, as well as some they didn’t know that the needed, until now.
The BR-16E-36 bead former has a large 36” throat depth with integrated depth stop. The Baileigh Industrial BR-16E-36 bead roll has an open concept working area with a unique quick release top die. Unlike most other bead rollers on the market, the BR-16E-36 allows the bottom die to be slid in or out depending on the offset the finished item requires.
A variable speed foot pedal controls the speed of the material feed, but can be locked in at one speed if that is what the operator chooses. An external 110V power outlet is also integrated into the BR-16E-36, allowing the operator to attach a work light for more visibility.

This is pretty cool. You can do your market research here, get ideas, build machines and advertize them here. We can then either buy your machines or modify the designs to suit our needs and build our own. I'm speaking bluntly here, no reason not to. It's all good. And thanks for supporting and motivating these sites with the equipment that you give away in the contest that you sponsor.
It looks like the bottom shaft is adjustable in and out. Is it?

Yes, the bottom moves in and out. More pics soon. This has been a work in progress for quite some time.

Shane,
My first impression is it's upside down. The lower roller is too close to the lower arm. Or is it just me not understanding? The one posted by Chris (topgun) would work much better, I think, where the arms don't interfere at all.
Otherwise, it looks like a nice capable deep bead roller. What gauge are the column and arms? Lower slides in and out? Looks like the quick release got kept too.
And Bob Adame, at least it's not HF. Baileigh does support the metal shaping community among others.

I'm pretty sure I thanked the Baileigh Inc. They seem to be a business that is run by real human beings. I didn't make any comparisons to Harbor Freight. Not sure why you did.

My first thought was that it was upside down too. But after thinking about it, we usualy have more ceiling height in our shops than the distance from the bottom roller to the floor. So this just makes you do your layout from the inside and will probably work better this way. I know on occasion I have had to flip flop the rollers and work the other way because a long piece (like peaking a fender) would hit the floor before I finished the pass. It's the same reason that my tube bender bends up instead of sideways. When they bend sideways they will clear a work bench or knock a lot of stuff over in a small shop.
I like the design of this roller.....
Good job guys.

Shane,
Why is the working height so low?
Because it's built upside down. Never heard a reason why they built it backward. The prototype wasn't this way.

All the discussion about the "Upside down or right side up" design seems to miss the point that if I'm correct this is the first commercial design to have a deep throat and drive both upper and lower rollers.
That is a major step forward in bead roller designs (if I'm correct?)
I'm going to go back to school just so I can afford all the Baleigh tools!

We will make whatever dies you need. The shafts are 7/8"
I will check on the diameter

OK, here are answers to some of the questions.
Lower shaft is 1" turned down on the end to 7/8 and keyed for the rolls.
Rollers are 3"
The first machine is a little low i agree, future ones will be 6" taller
We decided to get rid of the lower open area because the rollers are interchangable which will allow you to set your part to point up, thus not needing it both ways.
Both rollers are still driven.
The quick release also "locks" in the up position.
The drive and control are very crisp and smooth.
anything else, let me know...

Chris you are building some really nice equipment for Baileigh I wish it was affordable for me I am not saying its priced to high just more then I can afford, as it would make some of the projects in the shop easer & faster to build, keep the ideas & new tools coming.

After a little bit of thought, I don't think it's upside down. It's a lot farther to the ceiling in your shop than it is to the floor. So turn your part over (swap your rollers) and let it roll up. Otherwise it will hit the floor and you will be stuck. With it rolling up, you can bead some really large radius pieces that you wouldn't be able to if they rolled down.

You could have done that with the first version or prototype. Could have gone up or down, which ever was the better choice. So this version seems like it was a compromise. Bet it was due to cost. Try looking down into a long fender and hold the upper die on a line inside that fender. If it was due to more room to the ceiling, why not put it on it's side?
But I'll never own one, so I'll shut up! It's a good looking bead roller though.

Bob, you make good points...It is more difficult to transfer your marks to the inside of a fender (like when you are peaking one) and it is harder to see/follow the line looking inside the fender. But I still think this is better. I have had people bring me wheel tubs that they have already assembled and cut to fit. Then they decide they want more beads in them. I have to roll them up rather than down because they hit the floor before I get all the way around them. I'm sure this design is a comprimise as you say. But all designs are......that's why we have so many tools in our shop....(grin)
