Being new to this,i thaught i would try posting a pic. My first project was a slapper,As i couldnt find a car spring i looked around the shed and found a worn out chainsaw bar so used that. Its not as heavy as a car spring but seems to work ok. maybe of use to someone looking for alternative to car springs. sorry unable to post picture as i have no security token whatever that means?

That should make a good light slapper, think I'll do the same with an old bar I have.

Before anyone puts a lot of work into cutting up a chainsaw bar, though, check the construction. Stihl bars, for example, at least the three I have, are made of three thin pieces spot welded together.

I saw a video by a guy from New Zealand who used an old bastard file reshaped.

said it worked a treat and left small mrkings on the metal to show you where you had hit the metal.

Hey Cady!

just about any chunk of metal can be made to work, files are good, 1/4" or thicker will work. Here are some I have, most I made others came in swap meet boxes of goodies.

the handles give you different striking angles, if you work on old cars you will know what I mean, you can't move the whole car but you can change slappers. A bar of lead works to for moving metal if you have some handy.
