Great score, you will find the more you use it the better your parts & panels will start coming out. There is a learning curve but its not bad. I am learning more about what you can do & how to as Terry S says cheat the machine.

Karl,
Do you have a copy of the P13 manual? I just bought one, have it running, most of my T3 tooling swaps, all but the long/short shanked ones.
Anders P13 is easy one to recognize two speed switch next to start and stop switch. tt;)

I dont hav the P-13 manual :( but that is a simpel machin to use, if it had the P21 throat opening it would have been perfekt !

Congratulations Karl! And welcome to the club.
Now you also need some 3/4" cold rolled square rod. We've been trying to get some for 3 years or so. :(
It's a PITA to mill down 20mm to make stems for the P21. It makes you refrain from making a tool unless you really need it.

Einar is it that hard to find 3/4" square rod???? If you would like I'll see what I can find. Problem will be I will have to cut it to fit in luggage but just let me know.
Oh and don't forget the weight issue:rolleyes: but I would be happy to bring what I can, if I can find it for you here.
See you in Denmark my friend.

Karl and Einar how long do those shanks need to be for most tools? Trying to get some idea of how best it would be to cut it so you wouldn't end up wasting a lot of the stock.
My guess is that I will have to buy it in 10 or 20 foot sections. So somewhere between 3 to 6 meters.
Also in the process came across a great way to figure weight of stock using what the guy called "the cannibalism of numbers" You calculate the # of cubic inches of stock X ( 0.283 ) and ya have the weight in pounds. So 1 foot of 3/4 weighs (0.75 X 0.75 X 12 X 0.283) = 1.91 lbs. I need simple rules to remember stuff by.;)

Ray,
Cold rolled is 12' lengths tt;)
Hotrod1932
05-07-2011, 03:15 PM
Thanks Terry
So if the cannibalism theory works (.75 X .75 X 144 X 0.283)= 22.93 or 23 lbs for a 12' stem.
I mesured the orginal tools, they are +/- 5'' loong so what ewer lenght you cut it in, it wil be nexst to no wais metal :p

Karl
I usally have some 6 + 4, even cut some 3" they get added to, the short one on top will let you planinsh, just a little higher crown. Shortie on the bottom to dish a little higher crown. isn't much but sometimes handy.
Maybe Ray should bring two sticks of 3/4" .....;) and if you make the floating/ridgid pin adapter you can interchange watervielt, milwaukee, snap-on, body-master, type planishing hammer dies to each of your pullmaxes. tt;)

Ok Karl that gives me some idea of how to cut the stock up so I can get it into my luggage.:D
Terry 2 sticks! My goodness your playing fast and loose with my weight limits
I'll set out to find some here tomorrow for my Viking brothers!:D

Does the 3/4 square stock need to measure out at exactly 0.7500 ??
anders nørgaard
05-08-2011, 10:42 AM
If it's 5" +/- I suggest you bring 10" sticks. That way one stick can be cut in two to make the tool wanted
Like Terry said, sometimes you want a short upper and a long lower and vice versa;)

Ok Anders sounds like a plan I will go do some shopping tomorrow. Also Buddy PM me I need a shipping address, I have a package I need to send ya! ;)
If Karl, Einar, or others want different lengths they need to let me know before I cut it up, or they will have to weld it back together !:p

Ok Vikings as promised I went in search of 3/4" square bar stock today. Please note the " mark instead of those silly mm's
In keeping with the BuglytoolS Intergalactic Division Mission Statement - - We will fill voids that would other wise go unnoticed - - here it is.
3/4" Stock 1018 Steel
8483
Cut more or less to length
8484
And in keeping with Intergalactic Division Policy " Accuracy is Optional"
8485
Will bring what I can and maybe ship some along with the "Helmets" to Anders.
You good folks need anything else from the "un-metric" part or the galaxy?
Fantastick :D:D let the fun begin :) I expet you to come her for a test of it

Terry,
I don't think they did. 19 mm was never a "off the shelf" dimension and like you said, it's only 5/100 (mm) difference. I seriously doubt that colled rolled is rolled in THAT accurate dimensions anyway. It's within 0.002" ;)

Just wondering out loud but the 3/4" would be common stock here, maybe American Pullmax in Chicago had some collets made up? no markings on the p13 collets (5/8") 16mm

Wow! Nice Ray.
But are you sure that is steel?
The cut reveals it's green of color. Maybe Cryptonite? :-D
In Sweden they used imperial quite a lot 50 years or so back when the Pullmax was designed.
KFS: Kjell found the same toolholders you use. I can't find the Pullmax brand marked anywhere on them though. :p
Made a storage place for my P-21 tools

onley ofsenter lower tolholder, ...
That looks like the centered toolholder in the pictures?
Is it the one suited for beading, thumbnails etc. or is it the one for cutting?
Should we bring the one where upper and lower stems are aligned for the meeting?
the lower tool holder are ofset, I just clamp it in center, but if you bring your shrincing dies, maybe it vould be good to have a center holder :D
