Hey guys this is a car that we did a while ago but it was the funnest project that we have ever had in the shop
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1021
here is the panel that is going to go in the hole where the back door used to be and finding out where all the shapes started and stopped what a little bit of a challenge but now with everything marked out its time to go to the rubber wheel
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1023
here is the part with all the right amount of shape but the transitions are a little funny the blue lines are where I had to go back to the wheel with the steel upper in place to smooth the transitions.
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1024
Now in the brake to put the body lines in
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1025
Now to the hammer form to make the back edge all I did to get the shape of the hammer form was to take a 2x6 and hold it up to the door jam and mark it with a sharpie then cut it out and smoothed it up a bit
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1028
This worked out ok but someone need to invent the wood welder i am not a carpenter by any stretch of the imaginationhttp://www.********shaping.com/images/icons/icon_lol.gif
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1029
here is the new part but don't let it fall of the table and while your trying to catch it don't knock more stuff off the table that can land on it and dent it http://www.********shaping.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Now here comes the fun part cutting up a very nice car to make it even cooler the owner brought us a really bad 63 two door post to use the doors and doorpost and all the window track out of so lets cut'er up
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1031
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1032
a little trim here and there and it fits!! now for the longer door to help position the new door post
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1034
I was really shocked how well everything fit but you have gotta win one once and a while
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1033
now the new skin can be fitted to the car and not to shabby at this point
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1035
all tacked up ready for alittle hammer and dolly work then really start welding everything up
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1036
now with the skin welded up its time for a new sail panel with out the drip rail this panel was just alittle bit of wheeling and thats all it took to get the shape
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1037
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1038
now with everything welded up its time for a little straightening and a new lower quarter panel
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1039
http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=98&pictureid=1040

thats about it for the drivers side and the passenger side went just the same.

Pat I remember that post. This is really cool. Did you ever finish it? If so I would like to see a picture of it in paint.

Nice! Looks like your hammerform could have easily been tweaked to produce replacement door skins..

Was there a reason that you didn't use the skin from the rear wagon door?

I have a 63 and other than trim and tail lights I thought they were the same, but I notice that the rear lower quarter on your project is smooth where as on mine there is a protruding body line from the bumper to the wheel well opening.

Thanks alot guys!!! Tusk the reason i didn't use the back door skin is that I didn't think that I could unfold the hem with out tearing it and with it unfolded it isn't tall enough the door gap on the bottom would screw it up and another thing is I used the top of the 63 quarter panel so i didn't have to make the all the goofy stuff to hold the window fuzzie in place
