I need to purchase a VFD to power my Pullmax P-5 w/ a 2hp 220V - 3phase motor.
I have 220v - 1phase in that shop and the wires already run to the machine so I would like to ask someone to find one on eBay for me to bid on that they know will work with my machine. I also understand that there are some that have a remote switch too, but I just don't know enough about these units or brands to know exactly what I want (need).
Thanks!!

any reason you have to buy it off Ebay?
Things you need to check
240vac 1 phase input 240vac 3 phase out
VFD amps must be greater than motor amps (if you want full motor horsepower) 2 hp you may come close to limit?
Most have connections for speed control (rheostat/varisistor) and remote on and off switch.
I have a few running here, a Toshiba, Lenze, actech, Mitsubishi, 1 from factorymation.
Pullmaxes are considered soft start motors, no need to program a special ramp up or ramp down, no reason to joggle(vfd/motor) you can turn yours over by hand.
There is a concern about over speeding a older motor, I've only did test runs of a short 10-30 seconds, with no problems. Also long periods of slow speeds can cause a fan cooled motor to get warm then hot, that could break down the insulation on the windings.
Most are made overseas, Lenze/actech was/is making many in Uxbridge, Mass

:D Yep, for just the exact reason you just listed an entire paragraph on. :D You & Ken were really super nice in your responses but I understand all of that about the same as I understand doing brain surgery. If someone were to go to eBay and search for Variable Frequency Drives, right now there are over 600 different auctions of every different make, type, etc. imaginable. Last night I spent over two hours searching the internet and on eBay reading all of the subtile differences.
What my hope was someone would list an auction of one and they said "This is just like the mine and it works great!" where I could go hit the Buy-it-Now button and PayPal them the money where Monday morning it could be on the way to my place.
BTW, I should also explain that the electrician who is doing the wiring is a gentleman who works with high voltage down inside coal mines and he says he knows what VFD are but has no experience choosing them and so I am not getting much support there. His conduit bending, mounting, and wiring skills all look really nice and he says if the VFD comes with a schematic that he will have no problems installing it correctly. The other advantage is his Dad is an employee of mine and so the pricing is strongly in my favor. Thus, I just need some VFD selection help and then I can finally start making plans to use this thing.

Brent I would go to automation direct they stand behind there stuff I have 2 vfd's & motors from them & there tec people are live in the USA plus know there products well. Just look up automation direct on line then call & talk to the tec people let them know what motor you have ect & they will advise you on what they would recommend that they sell. The tec & support is well worth the extra you pay versus buying I think it is wright on ebay.

here are some pictures of my pullmax with VFD
my PULLMAX is outside so I take out the VFD when not in use.

thanks for the link Rick, I sent them an email to see if they have a box to convert a euro spec 380v 50 hz motor to USA 220v single phase,
if they have it I will post the part number

Brent thanks for posting this! I am in the same situtaion of trying to replace a VFD drive in my Bridgeport V2XT mill to get it to where I can use it with 220 Volts that I have in the garage.
Your absolutly correct when you say there are ton's of these things and I don't have a clue about what to replace it with.
With out being able to put power to the mill I don't even know what if anything works on it.
