If you intend to host a regional metalmeet in 2010, please begin by posting a thread in the regional events forum. If you send me a PM with the name of the event and the dates you plan on hosting it, I will be happy to create a logo for you and add it to this list in the forum.

I thought I'd post a few words about the way Regional Metalmeets are organized, for the benefit of new members who would like to attend one of these events.

Regional meet announcements are usually made in the 2-3 months prior to the event, so it's always worthwhile to check the Regional Meets forum often for new updates. The announcements are just making their way into the summer months now, so there will likely be quite a few more to come before the end of the year.

It's often been asked why regional meets aren't announced sooner, and why there isn't a list available at the beginning of the year. The answer is that like the rest of us, the regional meet hosts are busy dealing with employment, family, and life in general, and often find it impossible to commit themselves to a solid date many months in advance. It's also important to remember that these regional meets are not sanctioned or organized by Metameet.org in any way, they are held by individual Metalmeet members who choose to open up their shops, skills and equipment for the readership to enjoy for a few days each year.

Regional meets are lots of fun, and it's always worthwhile to attend one if you wish to explore and learn the art of metalshaping. People are known to drive for twelve hours, as well as to hop on North Sea ferries and trans-atlantic flights to attend these meets, so it's never too far for some to travel to make these regional meets happen!
