I did a search, lots of threads came up, real schizo in organization- am I making an newb mistake with this board in my search? Did I drink too much Ouzo, and prematuraly type a question here that is right in front of my face?

I am 41 years old, and changing careers by getting bachelors of science in Welding and industrial fabrication tech, and I have 5 semesters of nearly pure fab and welding classes- I go to class PUMPED and ready to do some mad scientist type fun (though technically, I am really not a full fledged mad scientist yet, just kind of mildly perturbed until I get my mad scientist certification)

So I am looking for tool making plans to fulfil a number of project ideas-

AND- I actually have a bike shop where I build bikes, but mostly put hard bags and wind screens on newer bikes, so, I need to equip it with tools.

I figure, if I am building stuff in college- why not stuff I can take home?

So, the criteria I need for plans is

: built from metal or woods, but preferably metal, AND needs to have some welding to fab it- if it is just cutting and drilling, they won't accept the plans-

I already have one project- the tubing bender from a regular poster on many bike boards, call sign blackjack, for plans for a tubing bender- so that is my first project

but second I want to build an english wheel, but after that, what do you guys suggest? I am free form think tanking here folks!

Little help?

Chaz

Go to ABANA.com and check out the plans for Ron Kinyon's power hammer. You can use the basic idea and own isze it for a planishing hammer.

ABANA sells the plans in a book for $12 here: http://www.bookmasters.com/abana/plans.htm
Lots of variations on the web, try Googling "Kinyon Hammer".

I'm still not sure this design would quite work as a planishing hammer. A planishing hammer has a speed upward of 2000 strokes per minute. I'm sure it could be modified into a power hammer of sorts though. Just my opinion.

Yup, I read those, and figured I'd just post the Google search terms  . I read most of that stuff a while back, as well as a few mods to the basic Kinyon design....................and somewhere in the whole research thing was a link that led me here. Go figure
