Been wanting to do these in steel for a couple of years. They are 22 gauge CRS leaves that spiral on a 48 - 59" 1/4" stem. Each has 9 to 11 pairs of leaves formed mostly on the planishing hammer. I made six of them, they look wild with the flowers.

Hi Bill

Looks like you have been busy, they very nice. Since they are steel they shouldn't drop come fall!

Hey Bill, now you need some of the Eucalyptus Nuts to go with 'em.

Thanks Steve.

Hey Tuck, I'm the nut. Just kidding. Need to see what the seed pod looks like for these, good thinking. Most of the euc's that grew in AZ that I remember had a flat spiral like pod or cluster. It's been a long time though, could be wrong.

Hey Bill, grew up near a Euc grove, as I remember they are very similar to an Acorn, and if memory serves me right, (that isn't always the case), they would be maybe 1/4 the size of a typical leaf, maybe less. It would definately be a challenge. Good luck.

Looking good Bill. Remember Mo.is known for it's cash crop be careful what you build and display out by your ditch, that's where they look first.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and wit.

I hope to sell them Kirsten, the quicker the better :-) . Really want to do more with patinas, think that may be what you are asking about. Might rust one lightly for now.

I'll be in an art show in Long Grove on the north side of Chicago next week. Hope a lot of my work finds a new home there. Then I can make more.

Bill,

Provide some details about your art show. I'm in the Chicago area. If I can, I'd like to see your show.

That would be great John.

The site says a little; http://www.longgroveonline.com/kildeer.html It's in the Stemple Municipal Parking lot. It is located behind the Red Oak furniture shop, at the corner of Robert Parker Coffin & Old McHenry Road. The show is during the day next Sat. and Sun. Will have more info if you need it when the packet gets here.

Good luck to you Bill. I'd think your sculpture will do well up there.

Just lovely Bill, as usual! I really admire the artistic stuff. Someday when I 're-tire' I might get to try some!

Hey everybody, join me in congradulating Bill Brackett (BillB) on his success at the Long Grove Art Fair. He took 1st Place in the judging for 3 Dimensional Art.

The town of Long Grove is dedicated to art, sculpture and culture. The Art Fair was a nice size. It attracted some great talent. They had live music performances throughout the day. Combined with perfect weather, we had a great time. It was good to see Bill.

Congradulations Bill!

Thank you very much John and Kerry.

The show was a blast, lots of great patrons and work there. The award was quite a surprise. They had some very high quality art. Didn't get to walk around but there was no junk anywhere I could see.

You "got that right" about thinking out of the box Kerry. Most people approach my work with a grin saying they never seen anything like it, good thing. Hope my work continues to warrant awards. This was my forth award and show.

John Brown, no kokopelli in my hand but there were some in the background.

It was a special treat having John and his two sons visit. Nice having friends when so far from home. I thought the camera was a film type, didn't expect this. Thanks for the congrats.

Perhaps more important than the award Bill, how did they sell? One of the things I'm still learning is which events folks bring money and expect to spend it and which events they bring beer and expect to drink it. While the beer events are a lot of fun...doesn't do much to pay the bills.

Congrats Bill, well deserved. Sounds like a great show, made better by exemplary personal achievement. Kudos

Thanks Tuck. Still figuring this out, right now just want to make a modest living.

Kerry, good question or observation. It is clear to me that my work sells best at an event that is juried in. Not always (3 of 4), but usually. It may not (1 of 2) do well at "craft shows" that are part of a thing like apple, corn, airplane etc festival. Big farmers markets can be super (2 of 7) at the right time with the luck of a good spot. So many things like weather and unknown competitive events can hurt turnout.

It's like a judgement sport but you gamble the ranch instead of your life. Had better luck with the later.

In about two weeks doing a show in NW Arkansas that is juried in with no awards. The Prairie Grove Clothesline Fair. Really seems like a goodie, hope so.

Hey Kerry,

I was drinking beer  and feel asleep at the computer right after posting. Don't think I answered your question.

This show was a modest success for me. No beer at the show, it was hosted by the PTO (school district). Lots of parents, teachers and children. My best show was a Jazz, Blues and Arts fest. There was a lot of beer and liquor. The people were into art and music. My best sales day ever was at the farmers market, it's surrounded by food and drink places. I let the customers do the drinking. Don't want to fall asleep at the show or make a stupid mistake.
