I have learned alot on these forums. And this is my first post. I think i have it in the right area. I have a project that i am doing where i am putting a quick fill cap in the tank the problem is the recessed hole that the original cap goes in is to small. Any suggestions on it? Here is a link to a similar cap that i am putting in. In the next couple of days i will upload some pictures of what i have already done to the tank.

If I understand correctley you have an existing hole in the tank and you need to make a larger one in the same place. One trick I have used is to take the hole saw your going to use to make your hole and cut a hole in a piece of 2x4. Once you have your 2x4 drilled with the hole saw center it up over the existing hole in the tank and you now have a guide that will keep the hole saw from walking.

Thats a good tip i'll have to rember that. What i was looking for is a way to form 1 pice of sheep metal to the size that the cap will fit in so i could cut out where the cap fits and just weld in that piece. I guess to make it short a whole new recessed area that the cap fits in. So the cap mounts flat with the top of the tank.

What i ended up doing since time was short and the guy wants the tank back was found a piece of pipe and welded a piece of sheet metal under neith it and cut a hole out so the cap would fit in. I'll post a pic in the next few days.

Open to other suggestions on how to do it
