---Hi Tom,
Sure am glad that you will be able to come to the meet. I've got the T turtle deck and all the parts that Steven was making.
Did you ever make the scoop you wanted to make? I'm sure that would be a great project to work on.
We have been meeting here every Thursday and Friday to work on the Barrcuda. Sure would be nice if you could come down for a visit.

Hey Guys,

Looking forward to another Menifee meet this year. (Maybe I will actually be there longer this year)

Anyways, I was thinking about getting some metal from Borman and wondered if anyone else would want some. I bet we could get a discount if we all ordered in quantity? (I have not checked this out yet, maybe someone else knows)

I will order the material and pick it up in Burbank, then haul it down to Menifee.

Anyone interested? I will check on quantity discounts this week.

---Hi Jay,
I'm glad that you will be able to make it to MMM06. If you have any ideas on projects or a certain project you want to work on, please let me know.
What type of metal do you want to buy? I have about 10 sheets of 19 ga (ak) sheet metal. If you only need a couple of sheets I would be glad to sell you some. But you do have a good idea, if there are enough people to buy in quantity you can get a good discount.

01-19-2006, 01:04 AM
You mean I gotta have a project in mind?

Usually I just buy materials for some crazy project in my head, and they just sit around collecting dust for years!

No really, I need to get working on my '72 Alfa Romeo. I will be doing some patch pannels, but nothing big, so I'll probably only need a sheet.

I would also like to buy some Al for my dash project. I need to get working on the form for that soon if I'm gonna work on it at MMM. Thing is, I probably don't need as thick of Al for my dash as guys usually use for their body pannels. By the way, what sizes do people usually use, .050 pannels-.090 for tanks?

Even then, I probably only need a sheet of that as well. Is 3x8 the standard size for aluminum?

So as you can see, I'm not going to contribute to the quantity much.

---Hi Jay.
Last year when I bought the sheet metal it was $57 a sheet. That is for 19 ga. 4 x 10. I don't know if the price of sheet metal has come down lately, but that was the best price I could get last year.
The normal size sheet of aluminum is 4 x 10. A sheet of that will cost about $180. for 3003 h 14 .063. I have some .040 that you vould use for a dash, but I ghink that would be to thin.
The last three tanks that I have made were made of .063 3003. Two of them were gas tanks which had a lot of baffeling in them. The other is a water tank for the barracuda. When you come to the meet you can check it out.

Tony, what year turtle deck are you building for your model T? I need to build a deck lid for my '27 roadster, ( actually need to build 2 of them, I have 2 bodies). I doubt I'll be able to make it to your place, but it sure would be nice if you took a lot of photos. I'd make an effort to come to your meet, if I wasn't committed now to go to Wray's place to take the classes I won at MM05, on Feb. 24, 25, and 26. John V.O.

Tony, Do you have any recomendations for hotels / motels in your area?
How far are you from the Pechanga Resort Casino?
We will be coming from the Mesa Arizona area, do you have any idea how long a drive that will be"

I live down in Ramona and would like very much to attend at least 1 day. I have aircraft sheet metal experience but very limited forming experience. I would like to learn some basics on how to correrctly use the tools that I have aquired.

---Hi John, Some how I missed your post dated 1/20/06. I am not sure what year the turtle deck is, I will take some photos and post them. Last year Steven Winnett started working on the turtle deck to reproduce it. Steven passed away last April and the project was never finished. Member Tom Cray wants to finish up the turtle deck project.
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Tony.

---Doug, The Pachanga Casino is about 15 miles south of me. The last time I drove to Phoenix it took me about 7 hours. In the next day or two I will post some information on accomadations.

I think that the turtle decks were earlier, than 26/27.

You'll have fun at Wray's. Find some pictures of a 26/27 turtle deck and start to make one while at Wray's class.

Here are some hotel listings in the area. The closest to me are in Sun City & they are: Travel Lodge 27955 Encanto Drive, Sun City 951-679-1133 and Best Value Inn 27680 Encanto Drive, Sun City 951-672-1861. One of them may have undergone a name change but both are still operating.

Another in Murrieta is Comfort Inn & Suites at 41005 California Oaks Road, Murrieta. Check their website for details.

There are others in Temecula which is about 15 miles south of Menifee such as Best Western, Hampton Inn, Ramada Inn and the Pechanga Resort and Casino. They have websites which you can check.

PM me for more info or if you've got questions.

Nevada, I doubt anyone forgot who you are, but where you been hiding? I thought maybe you walked out too close to the edge of the earth and fell off. I just figured I'd steal this post, (off Tony's topic, but I sure wish I could make it for his meet) and say hello. Sure hope you guys can all make it for MM06 again. John V.O.

I would like to thank everyone for their overwhelming response to the Menifee regional meet and am looking forward to seeing everyone who has already responsed. I think we'll have a good time.

Due to the overwhelming positive response, unfortunately I must now close the invitation. I'm expecting approximately 30 participants which brings my little shop to overflow capacity. So to all those who have already responded that they will be attending, welcome. And to those who haven't maybe we'll see you next year. I know the original invitation said to respond by March 3, and I'm really sorry to have to close the invitation early.

02-23-2006, 06:39 PM
Anybody attending the Menifee Meet needing a hotel or motel room should get a reservation soon, we found a lot of No Vacancies before we found a room. I guess this is a real poplular event.

Anyone getting there on Friday? To maybe help or get in the way?

03-02-2006, 12:02 PM
Anyone near LAX on Friday? Going back on Sunday?

Got a flight, if I can find a ride!

03-02-2006, 01:41 PM
If I am there on Sunday, I can get you a ride, but I am not sure if I will be thee both days or not. What time is the flight?

03-02-2006, 09:20 PM
RSVP from RedSilver, total Noob, there to observe and make some contacts, big fun. :!:

03-02-2006, 11:52 PM
You might think about flying into san diego and getting a rental car. Enterprise had a deal where you could get a car for 9.95 a day on weekends. San diego MIGHT be an easier drive and the airport is much easier to navigate.

03-03-2006, 12:39 AM
Hey Jeffery,

I'm about 20 min from LAX. I had planned to leave saturday morning, returning Sunday evening, but plans do change. What time are your flights? Maybe we can work something out.
