There are so many people and a lot of effort that goes into the International MetalMeet recently held in Oblong. I wanted tio share a few thoughts.
Gator had started a large thank you card signed by participants to give to Oblong. We presented it to The Fair Board president and Crawford County Fair Queen. We will make another presentation at their December meeting. The Fair Board owns the facilities we were using.
Also, we have placed a thank you notice to the Oblong organizations that helped out in the local Oblong paper.
Thanks to Roger for his tireless efforts in making everyone feel welcome, making us all laugh, his tours and helping everyone. Roger is a great Ambassador for MetalMeet in addition to running the growing Bugly Tools empire. His buddy Paul was a huge help and a new friend. I appreciate the lesson on saw sharpening, Paul.
Thanks to Gator for his great ideas (4:00 PM meetings, seminar input, thank you card, idea jar) and for bringing his TIG and two MIG's. They got a lot of use. The use of your computer was very generous. And thanks for helping string lights early Monday morning.
Thanks to Dutch, Randy, Steve, Kerry, Gator, Jeff, Tim D. ( I may have overlooked someone, if so I am sorry, there was a lot going on) for their excellent seminars.
Thanks to Dan Shady for handling the prize drawings.
Thanks to Tim Doty for wiring up the big compressor.
Thanks to Larry for sharing his DVD player and library for playing metal shaping videos in the office.
Thanks to Herb Jones of Herbs Cyber cafe and OTE communications for the wireless internet.
Thanks to Friar Tuck for his photo library.
Most of all thanks to the participants for contributing to the success of a great event. People helping people was the norm.
After a bit of rest I look forward to next year.
Doug
