Hi all

Just started on a copper bowl for a small birdbath. The plan is to attach the wire to the bowl just above the water level then add copper leaves to the wire. I want to use 1 1/2 copper pipe for the stand and wrap that in wire and leaves also. I want to wire the edge, but I dont know if I can use standard elec wire 10 ga? How tough is it going to be to fold in the wire going around a circle? It is 32oz copper.

Never thought it would be hard to make consistant "hammer marks"

Thanks Jim King

You might want to look at what I did with a birdbath. The legs are 1/2 inch round solid copper, and the "wire edge" is 3/8 inch round. Easier to bend solid than tubing, and I did not have any straight lines on this birdbath.

Jim wiring the edge should be a piece of cake.

You need to fold the edge up and then place the wire in and wrap it down and around. I have a set of roller dies for my pexto roller that works well for wiring 32oz copper with #8 copper wire. You are welcome to drop by and use it.

Thanks for the reply guys,

Richard, your birdbath looks great, it is one of the posts that got me thinking about this in the first place.

Gene, I will definitly take you up on the offer of using your bead roller. I am sure by then I will have plenty more questions for you.

Have to take the piece to work to reannel it. I tried using a mapp torch at home but it took forever. Like was said before you can feel and hear when it is time.
