I saw a really, really neat idea today. There is this machinist nearby (Ray)that does some work for me and today I dropped some stuff off and noticed he was TIG welding something with what looked like an old refridgerator. After I did a double take I realized that it was a Miller Syncro 300 with the freezer part of a regular fridge sitting on top. (coppertone of course). My friend Ray had simply cut the top off a broken fridge and sat it on top of his welder for rod storage. A 15W bulb that burns all the time keeps all his rod dry and warm and close at hand.

My Hobart 300 cybertig could support the whole frigidair!

I have seen complete refrigerators set up like that in welding shops, it is always best to disable the lock and lock it with a hasp to keep a small child out if they can reach it.

My wife has one of those food storage systems (other than me) that vacuum seals stuff. I never use more than 5 rods at a time for my stick welder. I've been wondering if I could seal them up in 5-10 packs and preserve them as it takes me years to burn a box of rod. Anyone tried this?...........john
