24x34 and full of unfinished projects.

I can get my dually in to work on it,sometimes ,barely.

We could possibly rent a place unless we can get a voulunteer?

We should try to keep this thead going and see what happens.

Unless KenCCW thinks it's too commercial I'd be glad to offer our shop for a MetalMeet   (Sorry Ken, like some said the other day, I have a cruel streak)

Anyway, I can probably make a hole about 20x40 with aisles to the Pullmax and Shopdog shrinkers. It certainly won't be as clean as Roger Rickey's up in the frozen north.

Huntsville (in the heart of Dixie Alabama) is about an hour and half south of Nashville, 2 hours north of Birmingham, 3 1/2 from Atlanta and Memphis.

If enough people are interested, I'll pick a date between events. Possibly do something in March. April starts to get very busy.

We could do Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday. MIght need some help shoving some of the work in progress into a tight nest so we have work room. We currently have about 30 machines in various stages of completion. I expect we can have several completed for folks to play with. Also a P6 pullmax with thumbnails and some other tooling. One of Richard Klienschmidts Shopdog machines, Lancaster shrinker and stretcher, HF bead roller, etc.

I have a theory about why southerners do not seem to care about a regional metalmeet.

It must be the weather is too nice to be in front of the computer????

Any way I found a building in Thomasville,GA we could use, 11,000 sf.
and several separate rooms (an old schoolhouse)

Come on guys, Let's get something going!!! b4 it gets so darn hot.

Best regards

Jim :D

Ok,ok We can have a regional MM at my shop near Huntsville Alabama. Dates that work well for me are March 25-26-27 (THAT WON'T WORK...IT's EASTER WEEKEND) OR May 6-7-8(THAT WON"T WORK EITHER. LETS SETTLE ON MAY 13-15). I'd think some folks would do Friday Saturday, some Saturday Sunday, and some parts of all three.

If we go with the May dates, I MIGHT be able to get my CP Planishing hammer welded up. Folks that get in early Friday will get to help shove things around to make space. I should be able to clear out about 1000 sq ft. I'll have:

- Plenty of Ewheels (wonder why?)
- Ivan the red air hammer (I can demo shrinking with it)
- Bags, bag stands, tucking forks, and some hammers post dollies, etc.
- 4' box brake
- rotary shear
- Pullmax with Clay Cook Thumbnails and Nadia Tool holder with some misc tooling and stuff we can make other tooling with.
- Shopdog
- Three MIGs and an Miller EconoTig as well as a Henrob
- Bandsaws

Projects can be whatever as long as we don't have a bunch of big stuff that takes up all the space. I'm not a master metalshaper but if Bennett Chapman comes we can give him that label since he's practically been living at Dutchs for the last 6 months.

Pick a date!

I can make the May dates and maybe the march,

my B-day is march 28

My wife's is the same day, She may let me go?

Let's see what kind of response we get.

Duh again, ( second time today, I'm slipping) March 25-27 is Easter weekend so that won't work. The following weekend is the date for Wray and Dutchs class in Herkimer and Bennett will be helping. That pretty much means that May 6-8 are the first available dates.

We're going to SunNFun and then to spring Carlisle. Hopefully we'll be frantically building machines but we can stop for a few days to relax anyway.

So let's see how May 6-8 suits everyone? EDIT See below New date is May 13-15.

OK, this is the FINAL change to the dates. I hope it doesn't mess anyone up. The new dates are may 20, 21, and 22 at our shop in Harvest, Alabama. We'll start early on Friday and be able to go until 9 or so each night or longer if we hold the noise down. Camper space is available and we'll get a portapotty. Power won't be a problem. We have 3 phase. No definite projects lined up yet but you can email me with what you'd like to do and we can see if we have room. We probably don't want a bunch of large projects that take up all our indoor space. We'll have about 2000 sq ft inside and more outside if the weather is decent.

Jim Spradley will be there with his Henrobs and I know that John Jordan, Bennett Chapman, Bob Blaisen, and even John Brown (maybe) will attend. Bennett has become an expert after all those weeks working one-on-one with Dutch so we'll get him to give us direction.

I'll have plenty of ewheels but feel free to bring your own and any other equiptment. We'll need sandbags, stands, hand tools, bead rollers or anything else you want to bring.

I've got some Clay Cook thumbnail dies tuned up in the Pullmax and they are SWEET!. Also have one of Richard Kleinschmidts ShopDog machines and John Jordan may bring down one of his also.

There may be very small fee for material and pizza but basically it's a freebie. There are lots of hotels in Huntsville about 10 miles away as well as every eatery known to man and a few that aren't.

Hey Kerry,

I am a new to all this and very interested in learning. I happen to be in Huntsville, actually the Monrovia area, so I could hardly believe it when I saw you would be hosting a meet soon.

Is there a formal sign up process and how much will the fees run. Also is the date carved in stone yet?

Best Regards,
Rick

Welcome Rick. I'm just up Jeff Road in Harvest. 859-2999. Give me a call.

The only sign up will be an email saying you're coming. The dates are in stone barring a problem on my end (getting hit by the proverbial beer truck or something) May 20-22.

There will be no charge other than perhaps a small fee (less than 20 bucks) for material. We'll probably chip in for Pizza or ?
