I found this interesting.

I guess I will need to do some research on how to register my 59 Apache when the time comes. Is the registration based off the chassis, engine or the body style?
I post this here because it could impact some builders here in Calif who design and build their cars completely from the ground up.

When I went to license the last car that I built, I had to show receipts for everything on it. After proving that I didn't steal the parts, they gave me a title for "Assembled Vehicle 2003" and on the title it had a value code. I think what California is after, are the people that build a car for $50,000 then get a title for a car that is only worth $5,000 and only pay tax on $5,000 not $50,000.
In the end, it always cost more to try and cheat, then to do it right the first time.
One time I even brought the power bill for my shop, to show that I didn't steal the power for my welder!!!

Thats hilarious.
sounds like boyd is in some serious crap. It must be nice to be able to fit all those cars in your shop and still have room for 22 armed fraud cops. :?

individuals from the State of California, Department of Justice Fraud Division, Department of Motor Vehicles, California Highway Patrol, Department of Automotive Repair and others arrived with guns drawn and flak vests on at the shop of Boyd Coddington Hot Rods & Collectibles (La Habra, California).
Is the use of force, firearms, "flak vests" (which is inaccurate by the way because flak vests don't stop bullets...so they'd have to be bullet proof vests)...necessary for FRAUD?
It's not like Boyd is running a Crystal-Meth lab and using his machine shop to make BOMBS and GUNS...He makes hotrods.
I know this is a Metal Shaping forum, I just wanted to point something out to everyone. It's getting to be a ridiculous.

btw-there is a way in these forums to censors particular words without having to edit someones post.
In my most humble opinion, if this post was intended for the chat area it should have been moved there to begin with.
I especially like the feature in this forum where mods can go back over a post and change stuff and leave no tell-tale signs that it was edited by someone else...pretty snazzy.
Regardless. take care.

Hi Ken,
I had to moderate your post because of non sheetmetal shaping inflammatory language that would just unleash more of the same. I have seen this on too many forums. We don't need it here, I hope you can understand and respect that rule.
It's not a big deal ,lets move on and discuss sheetmetal shaping. :D
Thanks,
Wray
PS : Currently I 'm the only moderator because the moderator group got screwed up the last time David upgraded the site . So I'm the heavy here , but I'm sure I have plenty of support. :D

:o I agree with Wray,it says metalmeet .com. Discussion about metalshaping is mainly what people are here for! Discussions about other things in life; they come up and are discussed, but then move them to a Web site for heavy-duty discussions. I have sat in on many soap box *****ing, there is a place and a audience for all kinds of viewpoints. I do believe doing things with metal is what, this forum was set up for. My 2cents!
