I have widened fenders without welding. Depending on the shape of the fender, you can stretch with a shot dolly held on the outside and ballpeen hammer hitting from the inside, or use shot bag hung of the side of the fender, and palm nailer with a carriage bolt as a hammer for speed, then smooth with a hammer and dolly and repeat as aften as necessary to get the amount of shape you want. I've stretched fenders as much as 3" this way so far. I think there is a picture of a 914 that I widened this way in the gallery. If not I will add one later today. I'm working on a how-to video of this method right now. It is amazing how much you can do without taking the fenders off or welding any new metal in. The stretch is gradual so thinning of the metal is not an issue. Do you have any pictures of the car?

Here is a link to the picture of a 914 widened only about 2". I've done a Ghia rear fender 3" wider as an experiment as well. If you look in my gallery it is similar in shape to the red ghia fender flare shown.

Hi (insert name here) Welcome to Metalmeet. I see your jumping right in with the fender project.
If it were possible for you to post some pictures of the car, and tell us what tools and equipment you have at your disposal, there are a number of folks here that can lead you in the right direction. Of course the methods are going to depend on how much you need to widen them...........check the forums and the gallery also.........john
