Well, there's no denying it now - I must be nuts. I just bought 2 more hotrods. And while some of you guys might think big deal - remember I live in the CITY - well SUBURBS I guess.

Anyways I went to see a SHRINK about this "problem" , but alas it is WAY cheaper to just buy the cars!!!!!

Well actually one is a truck - 1947 ford 1/2 ton - my buddy's dad built in the 60's (I was maybe 8 or 10 when I first saw it) in a twist of fate another buddy bought it from them in the 80's - now it's mine. And if you're thinking this ain't no hotrod - you might be surprised when the hood is lifted.

The other one my buddy got as an old drag car from this area (Cleveland) it is a 1956 Chevy sedan delivery - big block - 4 speed. - west siders I think raced it - nto sure when - 70's 60's I dunno.

Hey Ralph - you remember anything like this when you were around here racing???? I guess it did real well back then (in it's class)

I'll post pictures when I get them home.

Hi Jacin,

With your dragster project and two pullmaxes already in your shop I thought you were close to capacity.

Do you have to use a wall stretcher now?

Jacin,
You are NUTS but it has nothing to do with buying more cars(VBG). It is just something some of us are born with!(Myself included  )It is a gift!!
That '47 will make a neat tow truck for the digger :!: When do you plan on getting them home? I will take that baby nibbler of your hands to help with the room issue.
How are the Family?

p.s. Tori says Hi to Cameron! barbi Says to be sure to wish Donavon a late Happy Birthday. She wants to know when it was

Hi Wray, Hmnnnn a WALL STRETCHER I never thought of that!!!! THAT could just work!!!!

Yeah I am pretty much STRAPPED for room. But I have a trick or two up my sleeve which I hope will help a little bit :? For one thing I'm gonna cut off the back feet from the Ewheel and make it a tripod stand like Kerry's. This way it can be more easily stuck in between stuff when not in use. Another thing I want to do is to make some unidirectional car "skates" so I can easily slide the cars over - I saw some in a JC Whitney catalog - but they were expensive considering how many I need. The P9 may need to get some wheels and rolled against a wall when not in use!
Maybe I'll go UP too :o !!!!!

Needless to say this was TOTALLY unplanned and bittersweet - long story.

BUT!!!! Like Tim has already keyed in on - the '47 WILL make a good tow vehicle - heck so would the '56 delivery - I could even sleep in that!!! Hmnnn.........you know for when I get thrown out  ahh... I mean at the track!

I'll have the delivery home in a week or two. The '47 will be temporarily stored "off site" - I'm gonna get the '37 truck back together and let my father in law drive it (and store it) till I get things straightened out better here. Then I'll bring the '47 home whem I get the '37 out of here.

BTW the '47 Truck already has a slightly warmed over 392 Hemi in it - so it will blend into my garage nicely I think

Family's good - but I keep looking over my shoulder fearing they have a straight jacket ear marked for me!

Cameron asks about Tori often - I hope she (and all of you) are well!!!!! Thank Barbi for us - Donovan just turned 3 a couple weeks ago - finally he's talkin up a storm (Cameron talked at least a year earlier - they say boys start later so no big surprise I guess.

Cameron just started kindergarden this week - rough start, but I think she's finally starting to like it now <fingers crossed>

I almost got my '34 back together - minor tweaking - I pulled off the 2 - 4's and replaced them with 6 - 2's - looks cool - probably pull my hair out trying to get it run 1/2 as good as it did!!!

Oh well gotta go!!!!!

My shop at home is 3900 sq. feet, the barn at my business is over 3000 sq. feet Plus a few other buildings and I still do not have enough room. At least with the old race cars i can stack them up on shelves
To top it off I just brought back and older Offy mechanics shop, Filled my 28` trailer and ****ed near busted the springs. I needed another lath like i need a hole in my head but I`m greedyand love these old tools
I hate to leave older auto`s outside but how do you turn stuff down?

 Back in 1966,the olden days to some! I was delivering some car parts to a place on the west side of Detroit, the old Graham-Paige factory. My boss who was also my roommate told me the owner was a friend of his dads,a retired scrap metal guy. Don't remember the guy's name,it was eastern european:whatever. No one was at the facility,I put the parts in a mail door, then I peaked in the windows, Kenny my boss said "you won't believe the cars this guy has" they where suspended from the rafters on chains:at an angle so they looked like the proverbial sardines. All prewar WW2 ,you could tell many makes and models,Cadillac,Pierce Arrows,Stutz,Marmons, all the Detroit iron, cars like Franklin air cooled,Foreign brands Iso Franchi,Alfa,Horch,Rolls,Daimler with their funny grill channels.I had never seen so many cars and I had been to the Ford museum many times,I had seen Harrah's in nev. but Man they didn't come close in volume. The guy had a small team of mech. and body guys some from Lebaron etc. the custom body makers in Detroit , redoing these classics ,just a few at a time.In the rehab area which you could barely see into he had a Jordan Playboy and a huge Lincoln towncar being redone. Later on I saw an article about this guy and his collection,i think it was Car and Driver mag. sporty cars, they described the scene I had seen expect the Lincoln was gone and a Rolls was been worked on. The guy passed away maybe in 69 or 70 and there was supposed to be one really big auction,I never heard that it happened, must have been private sales, all those cars on the market would have depressed prices. So when somebody says" I must be crazy to buy more cars,I don't have the room!!!" Remember look to the rafters in your building and figure out how to hang them with out banging into each other. If you buy them when you are young and keep them until you are old ;even the funny looking dogs become valued. Listen to Stan he is a man of wisdom.

Stan, thanks for the reinforcement! Your place sounds awesome! I tried looking you up at Carlise swap meet last year - your neighbors said I missed you by 10 minutes - I hope to have better luck this year.

It truely is a sickness, but it is still WAY CHEAPER than golf or Professional help <grin>

My buddy built a big pole barn - you're right it wasn't too long before he was packed tight and looking for more room. He does have a lot of fun though!!!!!

thanks everyone - I think I've nearly got this affliction licked - this last purchase should do it ...... LOL

i'm definitely probably going to keep my inventory at the current even dozen, but i'm leaving my options open in case i accidently purchase another streetrod or similar project. and i'm pretty firm in my resolution, you might learn from my mistakes or consider a four post lift for storing two vehicles in one bay, we have two lifts.

Your collection reminds me of the time an insurance salesman made a cold call to Chrissy's mom. (We all lived here on the farm.)

"Hello Madam. I represent the xxxxx insurance group and I am sure we can help you lower your automotive insurance rates."

"Well, it certainly does add for all the cars," says Helen.

"It certainly does, and I am sure we can help you. How many cars do you have, Mrs. Wilson?"

"Ahhh . . . You know sir, . . . I don't rightly know. I haven't counted them lately." Says Helen.
"Let's see.
There's my car the ford, and Husband Jesse's Chrysler, and my late husband Frank's old 54 PU. Chrissy's Pinto, Chrissy's old 50 Chev flatbed, the Old 50 Chev School bus, then there's "sweet pea" thats a green 50 Chev pickup,
a half ton Dodge Van, Then Gene has two 78 ford pickups and thats about it. . . .
No wait, I forgot "little red" Thats the Horizon I won at the hardware store."

and the salesman hung up,

obviously thinking he was being led on.

but it was all true. . 8)
