I am soon to begin the project of replacing the back 1/2 of the tub of my Jeep. Any help, suggestions, experiences or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Issue 1:
The first item is to bend a 40 inch long flat flange along the upper edge of both fenders. The flange is the top of the fender and will provide most of the strength. Here is an end view of the desired flange shape.

What is the best way to fold the flange, use a brake, beat it over a dolly or use some sort of turning tool?
I will try and keep the project documented here so more experienced people can provide suggestions.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Dave,
You'll need to make that hemmed edge ( 180 degree edge bend) bend first. I do them in my box and pan brake bringing them over to about 130 degrees, and then hammering them flat with a slapper on a bench top. I then crush them totally flat with my planishing hammer or Pullmax. You can do them from a 90 degree bend as well if your brake won't go more than 90 degrees. It will take a little more effort to slap them over.
Once you have the hem finished then do your other bends working inboard from the hem.

First: Thanks for your response and thanks for fixing the photo. I figured out what you did and maybe I can do it myself next time. Didn't see that in tutorial. It's not a cut and paste. It's a cut and edit the link and paste.
Second: Do you recommend a brake from Harbor Freight or Northern Tool or do you recommend another source? HF and Northern are close to where I live. 40" is a long bend! Should I get a 24" brake and do the fender in two pieces to butt weld together?
Thanks (for a third time),
Dave

My suggestion is to find a sheet metal shop to brake the metal for you. Should not take a competent metal man more then 20 mins to brake those pieces. Bring the peices markedand just have them bent.

Edit: sorry didnt see the date on this post

Thanks for the info. I have changed priorities and am first fabing some tube fenders for the front. I had a discussion with a tree this fall  and tube fenders were an easier first project, so I'm doing that first. I'll try and get some pictures posted.
