Does anybody know of a source for, or wants to part with, half round and "U" shaped vixen files? Have searched the net and swap meets for some time without any luck. For lead work, nothing works quite as well. I have a few flat ones and an adjustable one but it doesn't adjust far enough, tried it and it snaped. Fortunately, flt ones are still available.
Thanks for any help, Phil Gilmore (rookie)

Thanks Wray, I've looked at some Simmonds on line before, but I must have missed those particular companies. Saw a lot of flat ones. See you in October and thanks again.

While at MM04 I purchased a few Vixen type files from the selection that Jerry Gulley had. I bought a couple flat and two half round ones. What I would like to do (if possible) is to heat one of the half round ones red to enable it to bend from a slight U shape and continue the U into a more severe bend while retaining the half round shape. This would allow me to use it in reverse curves and give more flexability to shape other parts. Granted the blades would tend to spread in the area of the severest bend, but my question is: could the file be rehardened or retempered once the shape is there? Some advice as to temperature and hardening procedures would be helpful also. I DO know a guy who has a...uh,ahem, propane furnace if he would let me use it . Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, all, Phil Gilmore(rookie)
